Dinner
"Mom, why did you not tell me that dad came back?" I whined as soon as I entered the kitchen. From my school uniform, I already change into a more comfortable clothes.
"Why? Don't you want your dad to know your relationship with Gray?" She asked, narrowing her eyes in the process.
"That's not what I mean, mom. You should've at least given me a heads-up. I don't even know if dad is killing Gray now." I pouted.
Mom laughed and placed a tray with two glasses of orange juice in front of me.
"Stop wailing like a cat and bring this to them. We don't know if your dad is really killing your boyfriend now." Mom chuckled and went back on the stove to continue what she was cooking.
I scowled and stood up on my feet. I was already on the doorway when I heard her again.
"Invite Gray to join us on dinner tonight if you two want to be on your dad's good side." Mom suggested.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. Whatever." I answered and wasted no time to go to the garage.
Pagpasok ko palang sa garahe ng bahay ay agad ko nang narinig ang tunog ng mga inaayos na bakal. Maririnig din ang ilang tools na ginagamit.
I look around and spotted them on the part nearer to the garden.
Gray was kneeling on the floor and an old wheel was in front of him. He was holding something like a flat iron which I think is what he's using to detach the tire from the wheel.
Maybe I was wrong thinking he don't know how to fix an automobile.
I look up to stare at him and I gulped when I saw that he was now only on a white shirt. The cloth was clinging on his body like a second skin due to the sweat. His shirt was spotted with greases and dirt but it doesn't change the fact that he looks hot right now.
"As I was saying, I and Amber's mom are high school sweethearts." Dad started talking. I cannot see him but I am very sure he was smiling from ear to ear.
I automatically sighed when I heard his story. It was the same love story I've been hearing since I can remember.
I let dad's story enters in my one ear and gets out on the other.
Lumapit ako kay Gray at kinalabit ang balikat nito. He immediately smiled when he saw me.
Tumayo siya at kinuha ang inaabot kong baso. He took a sip and smiled at me.
I was about to ask him if he's okay when dad spoke again. This time, he was already looking at us with a sharp stare.
"I was wondering why no one is answering me, but then there you are hitting on my daughter again. Talo mo pa si The Flash." Dad said sarcastically. Though I know he's just messing with Gray.
Gray scratched the back of his neck and took a step backward.
"One more." My dad demanded.
So, Gray took another step backwards.
"Ahm, mom invited you to join us on dinner tonight." I immediately said to break the awkwardness of the situation.
"Y-yeah. Sure. I would love to." Gray answered with a smile that secretly telling me to rescue him from the staggering stares of my dad. This maybe an unpleasant situation for him but I found him cute with that expression. I chuckled.
