Meet Me At Lunch
Beginning on Monday, I will start courting you.
Today was already Monday, and I haven't heard from Gray yet. So most probably, my first assumption was correct. He was just messing with me.
"Lagi kang tulala pagkatapos ng team building Amber. Do you feel anything wrong?" Mom asked while sipping at the cup of her creamy coffee.
I hopped from my seat and pick my plate up. "It was just me being lazy during monday, mom." I lied. I put my used plate inside the sink.
A soft dinging sound reverberated around the house.
"I'll get it. Go get your school stuffs because we're leaving in a few." Mom said before putting her cup in the sink.
"Gray? What brought you here?
Gray smiled and scratched the back of his neck. "Ahm ... good morning Mrs. Arcega. Actually, I am here to fetch Amber."
"Ohhh." Was my mom's only reaction.
My eyes widened with Gray's response. Seryoso ba talaga siya sa sinabi niya?
Umikot si mommy para harapin ako. She raised her eyebrows questioningly.
"Ahh... Um..." I tried to form a coherent sentence explaining why Gray is picking me up to school, when Gray interrupted.
"Mrs. Arcega, Uhm ..." Gray buckled. This was the only time I saw him tongue-tied.
"I am courting your daughter, that was also the reason why I am here, to personally ask for your permission."
"Ohhh." Was mom's reaction again. "Ganon ba? No worries. It would be fine for me. Mom commented.
"Mom! Seriously?" I asked bewildered.
"What? Don't tell me I'm wrong? Oh– Ano pang ginawa mo rito? Go pick your things up now. You should not let a gentleman waits." I know she's not serious because a teasing tone was laced on her voice.
I walked up to my room to get my books on my study table before putting them all in my bag.
"Hold this please." I smiled sweetly.
"Did you bring a whole bookshelf with you?"
