Chapter 54

 You awoke to find yourself being held by Draco. Your clothes were still off and in a pile across the room. You pulled yourself up from the bed and away from Draco's hold. Looking down at him you noticed a peculiar mark on Draco's arm, you pulled his arm toward you and flipped it over. It was the dark mark covering Draco's left forearm. A million thoughts ran through your head, mainly the letter he left you saying he needed to protect you. Is that what he meant by protection, getting the dark mark and going back to his family. "Draco" you said, nudging his body "hmph" he groaned, opening his eyes to face you.

He saw you holding his arm and quickly pulled it back. "Why?" you asked "y/n I-" Why!" you repeated not allowing him to finish his sentence. "Why did you do it?" you asked "I had to" he said "it was the only way" he said sitting up in front of you. "How was that the only way" you said "you could've stayed with me" you said "and risk having them come looking for me?" Draco said. "I wasn't going to take that risk" he continued "we could've found a different way" you said tears swelling in your eyes. "This was the only way he said".

Draco pulled you into a hug with your head resting on his shoulder. "Let's get back together" you said "go back to what we were" you added. "No" replied Draco "we can't do that" he said "what do you mean no?" you asked "we can't get back together" he answered. "Of course we can, we can keep it a secret" you pleaded "please Draco". "I'm sorry y/n, but we can't do any of the sort" said Draco pulling away from you. "But you can't tell anyone about the mark" said Draco "I don't care about your stupid mark!" you shouted "I just want you back" you sobbed "I need you".

Draco was on the verge of tears after hearing you, he so desperately wanted to say yes but he knew deep down he couldn't. "y/n, we can't get back together" said Draco letting tears fall down his face. "Get out" you whimpered "y/n lets-" get out!" you shouted cutting Draco off. "y/n we need to talk" said Draco "I'm never talking to you again" you said "I hate you!" "GET OUT!" you screamed at him with more tears flowing down your face. "y/n" said Draco grabbing your hand with his "we need to talk" he said. "I never want to see you again!" you shouted ripping your hand back from Draco's grasp.

You got up from the bed and dressed in new clothes while Draco just watched in disbelief. More tears started to fall from his face as he realized that he could never have you back. "Why are you still here?" you asked "I told you to get out" you continued. "I'm not leaving until we talk" said Draco "I'm not talking to you, I hate you!" you screamed "JUST GO!" you screamed, throwing his clothes at him. Draco got up from the bed and started to put his clothes back on from earlier. You faced away from towards your dresser as to not want to look at him anymore. "Why are you taking so long?" you asked turning around to face him "I don't want to leave" he said.

"If you're not going to leave, then I am" you said, grabbing your wand and pushing past him to the door. You pushed open the door and walked down to the common room and pushed open the door leading out. You walked down the staircase of the tower as more tears streamed from your eyes. You walked to the Gryffindor common room and pushed open the portrait door to find Harry, Ron, and Hermione all sitting in the common room. "y/n what happened?" asked Hermione closing her book "we haven't seen you all day" said Ron. You sat down next to them with your back against the couch as more tears fell down your face.

You pulled your knees up and placed your head in them. "Was it Draco?" asked Harry to which you nodded. "What happened?" asked Harry but you didn't answer. You wanted to tell him all what happened and how he's a death eater but you knew that you couldn't. "I need an owl" you said pulling your head up "I'll get Hedwig" said Harry getting up from his seat. Harry came back a few minutes later with Hedwig on his shoulder. You got up and flicked your wand making a piece of parchment and a quill appear.

Dear Fred,

I miss having you here with me at school. I need you here with me right now, I wish you were here. I'll keep in touch with you.

"Take this to Fred," you said, folding up the letter and tying it to Hedwig's leg. She flapped her wings and flew out of the common room window. "Do you want to talk about it?" Harry asked "not really" you said sitting back down next to him "I just want things to go back to how things were" you sighed. "I miss how they were" you added. "I think we all do" chuckled Harry, throwing his arm around your shoulder bringing you closer to him, "don't worry y/n, things will get better" he said. "I hope they do" you chuckled leaning your head onto Harry's shoulder.
