Chapter 36

Following Christmas, winter break had finally come to an end and now it was time to return to school. "Do we have to go back?" you groaned "I'm afraid we must" chuckled Draco "but I don't want to" you said. "Come on," Draco said, grabbing both of your trunks and pulling them out the door. Draco carried both of them down the stairs and placed them next to everyone else's. "We're walking but Mad Eye will take the trunks," said Mrs. Weasley said, pushing everyone out the door. Draco laced his fingers with yours as you started on the twenty minute walk to Kings Cross Station.

"When are your lessons with Snape?" Ron asked Harry "I have no clue but I wish never" Harry replied "it can't be that bad" said Hermione. "y/n has been learning since first year so it must be easy" Hermione added "it's not easy when you start, I was having trouble with it" you said "but it does get easier" you added. "And we still have O.W.L.s to worry about" groaned Ron "maybe if you actually did your work you wouldn't be so worried" said Hermione "wait maybe y/n could help us all out with his mind thingies" said Ron "I could if you wanted" you said.

"You shouldnt be encouraging this" Hermione snapped "why not, if I can help then I will" you chuckled "and if they use some sort of magic to block out your legilimency?" Hermione questioned. "Is that even a real thing?" you asked "well I'm just saying that-" "let him do what he wants" Ron said cutting her off. "If you two get caught and expelled it's all your fault" she snapped,"are you really going to do that?" asked Draco "depends if I even can" you chuckled.

You finally reached Kings Cross. "Everyone go in pairs" said Mrs. Weasley, Draco pulled you forward through the wall and you entered the portal. "Oh we have prefect duty against" you groaned "it can't be that bad" said Draco "all you do is follow me around" you retorted "so what" pouted Draco. "We'll see you at the feast" Hermione said to Harry as you all walked away. You changed into your robes in the prefect compartment but you didn't get up to monitor the hallways. "Why don't we just stay here?" you suggested "believe me I would but" said Ron motioning his head in Hermione's direction.

Hermione did eventually push you and everyone else out of the compartment. You and Draco were just walking around not caring what everyone else did. Someone had set off fireworks in their compartment which you ran up to so you could watch. When you got there they put them out since they didn't want to get in trouble. "Why'd you put them out?" you asked sliding the door open "cause you're a prefect" one of them snapped "yeah" they all said. You reached for your wand but Draco slid the door closed and pulled you back.

"Are you really going to curse a bunch of second years?" he asked "that was the idea" you answered. "Come on" he said, pulling you away from them, someone ran up behind you and wrapped their arms around you. "Tommy!" you cheered kneeling down to give him a hug. "How was your break?" you asked "it was really fun, we went traveling" Tommy said. "Were you with Evan?" you asked "yeah but he has some girl in there" he said "show me" you said. Tommy grabbed your hand and started pulling you to the compartment he was staying in. Evan, Nick, Connor, and Bailey were all in there.

"What's this?" you chuckled, sliding open the door "a date I presume" you laughed. Evan went red while Bailey turned her head to face the window to hide her blush. Draco went somewhere else to go find someone while you talked with your friends. You sat down in the compartment and closed the door behind you. Tommy sat in between Nick and Connor who were reading the daily prophet. "Are they dating?" you whispered to Nick "we think so, but we can't exactly tell" they said "he hasn't told us anything" added Nick. "but you could try to look" winked Connor "I'll see what I can find" you said.

"Hey Evan" you said, earning him to look at you making eye contact in the process. You read for 3 seconds and did indeed find out they were dating. "Hey, you can't do that" Evan retorted "too late already did" you chuckled "congratulations" you mouthed. Evan went red once again and hid his head in his hands. "Well I should be going" you said waving to everyone as you slid open the door. Draco was standing outside with his back resting against the wall.

"Ready to go?" he asked "yup" you responded. Draco laced his fingers with yours and he walked with you back to the prefect compartment. Ron and Hermione were already in there arguing about something. "Why are you two still fighting?" you asked "she keeps talking to me about studying" said Ron "if you want to pass your O.W.Ls then you must" said Hermione "just study, not everyday but some" you said. The rest of the ride to Hogwarts was fairly quiet in the compartment. The other prefects were hardly talking either so it was getting awkward.

After the long journey back to school you arrived at the station. Hagrid was waiting outside as usual and the trunks were sent up. You and Draco got into one of the carriages and waited for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Harry was the last one to arrive since he was in a different part of the train. The carriage started being pulled up to the castle after Harry entered. "I hope there's good food," said Ron "food is all you think about," chuckled Hermione "I do not" he retorted. The whole ride up Ron and Hermione were bickering but they did finally stop after getting off the carriage.

You walked hand in hand with Draco until you had to go to your table for the first night back. "Bye, I'll see you later" you said, giving Draco a kiss on the cheek and walking down to the Ravenclaw table. Draco went with Blaise and Pansy to the Slytherin table. When Dumbledore was giving his speech Draco's ring kept glowing a silvery blue color. Draco knew that you were thinking about him and turned slightly red. Your ring was glowing as well meaning that Draco was thinking about you. You started to eat but glanced over at Draco a couple of times who showed off his glowing ring to you.

You showed yours back earning a smug grin from him. "What'd you guys do over break" you asked "the usual" Nick and Connor said "what about you Evan?" you asked but he didn't answer. He was too busy staring at Bailey Creed who you found out was his girlfriend. "Oi stop staring and answer" you said "oh- sorry" he said, "I did the usual as well" he said. "Getting a girlfriend isn't your usual" Nick and Connor joked "I'd like to see you get one" Evan said "we don't need, we're bros for life" they said throwing their hoods over their face. You started to laugh and soon Evan did as well.

"Well you guys look good together" you said "both half bloods" said Nick "in other words perfect" chuckled Connor pretending to throw his hair over his shoulders. "You two need lives" said Evan "we have them but we don't need relationships" they chuckled "how come you never make fun of y/n and Draco?" asked Evan "cause they're so madly in love" they said batting their eyelashes earning a laugh from you. "I'm gonna start crying if you keep making me laugh" you said "that is the goal" said Nick.

The feast had ended and everyone was sent to their dorms. You were gonna stay in your dorm for the first night back since that was what you always did. "Goodnight" you said, connecting your lips with Draco's "goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow darling" he said.
