Chapter 16

Summer was coming to an end and you were bummed out. The prefect duties are what made you more excited about going back to school. Harry was still jealous that Ron was made prefect and not him. It pissed you off because Ron deserved as much as he did, but no one else saw that except you. Draco was more excited than you because he was going to be able to talk to the first years more. He had always wanted to try to be nice but he never could due him having to "keep up the family status." The twins were always teasing Ron for getting prefect which made him feel a bit sad.

"Don't worry, you'll be a great prefect" you said trying to comfort him "you think so?" he questioned "I know so" you asserted. After hearing that a smile started to form on his face and he hugged you for making him feel like he deserved it. It was the night before the return back to hogwarts. Ron was feeling pretty good about himself after you helped him gain more confidence. You finished dinner pretty early cause Mrs. Weasley wanted everyone up to bed early.

The next morning you woke up to find Draco already dressed and packed. "Morning love" he said placing a kiss on your forehead "hmmm" you moaned getting out of bed. You went to brush your teeth in the bathroom and came back to get dressed. Hermione and Ron were waiting in the hallway for you and Draco. You finally finished getting ready and grabbed your trunk and headed out of the room. "Morning" you said, giving them a smile.

Harry was already downstairs talking to Sirius about the school year and how he needs to stay safe. Sirius turned into padfoot and stood next to Harry. You left your trunks with Mad Eye and hopped out the door. You were going to be taking the night bus to Kings Cross since it was the safest solution. I always wanted to ride this thing" Ron said climbing into the bus. It started to move once everyone was on and zoomed through the streets. You sat on one of the beds with Draco and you flew into him as the bus moved through the streets.

He wrapped his arms around your body so as to not let you fall off or fly into someone else. You finally reach the station with everyone feeling a bit woozy. "I never want to ride that again'' Ron stated trying to get up from the bed. You got up from the bed and led Draco out and followed Mrs. and Mr. Weasley to the portal. You walked through holding Draco's hand and were bombarded by a bunch of other students walking around.

"Well I guess we should get changed then" Hermione said pulling her trunk "yeah we'll see you later" Ron added. You and Draco waved to Harry as you followed Ron and Hermione into the prefect compartment. Harry had gone onto the train with Ginny and they took a compartment occupied by Luna Lovegood. Neville later joined them a few minutes later. You and Draco were just walking around the train to monitor anything but he was basically following you around. Pansy Parkinson had been named the other Slytherin Prefect which Draco was pleased about since they were friends.

The whole train ride you just sat down at a table and watched around the rooms. Draco was sitting in a different compartment and was making sure no one did anything out of order. He was gaining more confidence in himself now that he was finally leaving his family in the past. While he did have more confidence in himself and didn't care about what anyone thought about him, he was still a major softy with you. But you were the only person who ever got to see that side of him.

The train had reached the Hogwarts station and came to a stop. The first years got off and stayed with Hagrid while you found Draco and headed up to the castle with him. He gave you a goodbye kiss when you entered the Great Hall and sat down next to Pansy and Blaise. You headed over to the Ravenclaw table and sat next to Evan who was your dorm mate and fellow prefect. Connor and Nick came down and sat next to you both slapping Evans down. "Oi, show some respect to your prefect" Evan said almost bursting out in laughter. You had all looked at each other and burst into a fit of laughter.

"How were your summers?" Evan asked "mine was the same as always" Connor replied. "Me too" said Nick "yeah mine was the same" you added. Dumbldore then came up after the sorting ceremony to give his yearly speech. He was talking about the same thing every year. "We get it, the forbidden forest is off limits and no magic is allowed in the hallways" Connor mocked. Suddenly a woman in all pink who had a toad like face stood up and interrupted Dumbledore. "Who's this part?" Nick said, making you all let out a small chuckle.

All four of you didn't pay any attention to anything she was saying as Nick once said "who gives a crap". The feast had ended with all the plates returning back to their empty state. "Prefects please escort the first of your house to the dorms" Dumbledore announced. "Come on," you said to Evan. You both got up and headed to the front "Ravenclaw first years over here" you called. "They're really short," Evan said, making you laugh. "Is this everyone?" you asked "no, wait" a little boy called from the back. He had brown messy hair which was extremely wet.

"Why is your hair wet?" Evan asked "I put my head in the lake" he cheered. "Okay come on let's go" you said leading them all out of the hall. "I'm gonna watch the back" Evan said dipping around. The little boy made his way up to the front and was now standing next to you. "Oh it's you" you said "what's your name?" you asked. "My names Tommy," he said, looking up at you. "Well Tommy, have you made any friends yet" you asked him "I met like four other first years who asked to be friends" he replied. "On your first day, that's good" you chuckled.

You reached the entrance to the common room and said "arkanthia", the door formed from the wall and opened. "Well Tommy, if you ever need anything just ask me" you said to which he gave you a big smile and nodded. "First year dorms are that way and they should have your names on the doors" you said. "Let's head to our dorm," you said to Evan and he nodded. You pushed open the door and found Nick and Connor decorating the room with their posters above their beds. "How was it?" they asked "it was actually pretty good, and that Tommy kid is definitely my favorite" you said. "He's definitely something" joked Evan as he started to get ready for bed. You laid onto your bed closing your eyes thinking about how Draco was doing.
