Once the bags are placed into the car, Sierra lifts Hope into her car seat and habitually runs through the process of clipping her in and securing them tight.

"Alright, are we buckled in?" The girl then smiles and nods as she checks a second time. "Are you ready to go home and show daddy what outfits you made me buy?"

"Yeah!"

"Make sure to give him a show." She kisses her forehead and closes the door.

The smile drops from her face when a second shadow appears in the window. Sierra inhales as she's spun around and backed up against the side of the car with a gun hidden between their bodies, the mouth of it digging into her sternum.

"Any sudden movements and I pull the trigger. Get in the car. We're going for a drive."

Her mouth opens but quickly closes. A hand jerkily reaching behind her for the handle, her body slips into the drivers seat. Hazel eyes drift to the rear view mirror to watch the oblivious girl.

Driving along the busy streets and passing between rows of narrow buildings, she tenses behind the wheel. It's impossible to not be aware of the weapon he keeps in his lap, aimed at her always. Though out of Hope's sight, thankfully. Suppose that's something to be grateful for when trapped in a predicament such as this.

"Mommy?" Hope rubs her eye.

"Not now baby." Her voice slightly wobbles despite her efforts to sound comforting. "Be quiet for me okay? Like the game we play with daddy." Hope closes her mouth and nods. Sierra glimpses the weapon. "Please. Not in front of her."

"Keep your eyes on the road."

"Which one are you?" she almost whispers, grip tightening on the wheel.

He leans closer with a sneer. "The name's Jack."

"Is this really necessary?" She eyes the gun.

"You just focus on driving us to your beloved home," he returns with a gravelly voice.

She can't take a detour because he'll know. His suspicions will grow and he'll be more inclined to pull the trigger as promised. She can't get to her phone either since her bag is by his feet.

Reluctantly she complies with his demands. Soon rolling to a stop in the driveway and anxiously switching off the engine.

"Do I need to remind you it'll be your daughter's life if you try anything stupid?"

"No."

"Good."

They climb out and Sierra hesitantly unbuckles Hope, lifting her out of the car. He shakes his head and she bites her tongue, placing the girl on her feet instead.

"Now." He crouches to her height and Sierra visibly stiffens. "Hope, is it?" She timidly nods, clueless as to how much of a threat he poses. "I need you to do something for me. I need you to run inside and get your dad for me. Run along now."

She gazes up at her mother who nods. Hope obeys, her small legs carrying her inside. Sierra swallows a whimper when he roughly grips the back of her neck and removes the gun from under his jacket.
