Another exasperated sound rolls across the room. "Quit eating my fucking food," Kaden grumbles.
Grayson's face contorts into an unhappy expression. "I justー what's that?" He gestures to the window with a simple nod of his head. When his brother falls for his schemes and peers out of the window, he steals another square of his chocolate.
"Fuck sake." Kaden frowns deeply. "You're an animal." His insult is met with a beaming smile.
Suddenly a hand grips the back of Grayson's neck and his shoulders tense, his defences building around himself. Until he catches a whiff of sweet perfume and champagne hair tickles his skin. Rosy lips hover close to his ear.
"Be nice," Sierra warns.
"I'm always nice." He ignores her incredulous scoff as she pulls away. "Out of the two of us I'm the nicer one. Shut it," he adds when Hope snorts.
The door is opened without warning; without a single knock. Tyson is lounging comfortably in a wheelchair that Trey is pushing with ease. Everyone already in the room breaks into bright smiles.
He stretches his arms out wide. "Who'd have thought we'd end up here?" He laughs freely, bumping his fist against Kaden's.
He's sat up in bed currently. It's still difficult to lift himself up so Grayson usually supports him, much to his disappointment. It's evident on his face that he's annoyed with himself. He hates being like this.
"How are you doing?" His cheeks start to ache from his grin.
"Me?" Tyson points to himself. "I'm tough, nothing more than a scratch. I'll be back on my feet in a couple days."
"He's still loopy from all the drugs so he's talking shit." Trey smirks.
"I refuse to be stuck in this gown or this place any longer than I need to be."
"Take some of my clothes," Kaden offers.
Tyson's brows float upwards. "I appreciate you man but you know damn well your clothes won't fit me. No offence but I don't want to walk around with clothes two sizes too big on me."
"You can borrow mine," Hope teases.
"Pink isn't my colour but thank you." His cheeks hurt from smiling too. "How are you doing man? Feels like I haven't seen you in years."
"Don't be dramatic."
"I'm serious. We all miss you." His compliment is accompanied by a firm nod from Trey.
Kaden's smile falters. "I'll be out of here soon."
Soon. He's said it to himself to many times it no longer sounds like a real word. He longs for the day he can leave this place. It's nothing like a prison but in many ways it feels like it is. Bland walls, bland food, repetitive routines, trapped in the same room and the same bed.
"Don't rush. Lucky for you, we have a pretty good leader." He nods at Sierra. "She's badass."
Sierra shakes her head, desperately trying to reject the compliments he's now throwing at her. When he doesn't give in she begins to wave her hands through the air.
