Hands smoothing the floral skirt ending midway around her thighs, a line appears between her brows. Legs redirecting against her will take her down a different path, towards the collection of voices erupting from the downstairs office.

The group of burly men put their rowdy conversation on hold to view the woman in the entranceway.

She's conflicted over whether to reach for her hidden gun until they turn to reveal Kaden leant against the table. An aura of authority rolling off of him in powerfully thick waves.

Clearing his throat and standing upright, he excuses himself, doors closing behind him. The men inside continue to converse loudly with one another while they wait.

"Who are all of those people in our home?"

"Some contacts of mine."

"Contacts. Sure they're not here to kill me?"

"You think I'd invite them in if they were?"

"They could be undercover. Oh don't give me that look, I'm allowed to overthink after what I've been through."

"Yo." Grayson nods, joining them with his hands on his hips. "We doing this?"

"Will you tell her they're not here to kill her?"

"The only person under this roof who wants to kill you is me."

Sierra sighs. "I hate that that's reassuring."

"My job here is done." Grayson passes between them to enter the room, each man mirroring his grin as they exchange greetings.

Sierra's eyes narrow on the unfamiliar faces and unreadable smirks. "I don't trust them."

"Do you trust me?"

"Unfortunately, I do."

"Unfortunately?" His brows furrow.

Sierra notices one of the strangers glancing her way before responding to Grayson with a deep laugh. Who knows what kind of weapons they have under their black clothing. She dreads to imagine what they're capable of.

"I trust you, I just don't like the predicaments I find myself in because of it."

"That was a backhanded compliment." He raises an arm to rest it against the doorframe.

"You invited a bunch of strangers into our home without warning me first. What would you have done if I'd have walked in naked?" Her head tilts to the side as he ponders.

"I'd have enjoyed the sight?"

"Oh my god I hate you." She pinches the bridge of her nose.

"Obviously I would've done something. I don't want anyone else's eyes on you."

"Then maybe you should warn me next time." Her fingers travel over his firm chest and shoulder. "Wouldn't want your contacts to see something they shouldn't." She smiles smugly when she walks away.
