For once, all is calm. As soon as Sierra woke on the spare bed, she bundled herself up and climbed into bed with her love. So far she's done well to avoid causing him any kind of pain or discomfort.

Even in a deep slumber, entranced by other worlds, her body is mindful of where she's laid and actively avoids his injuries. She considers it a skill.

Grayson exits the en-suite in fresh clothes. His hair is still damp from the shower but drying fast.

Kaden is anything but discreet while honing in on him. "Is that my shirt?"

"You're not wearing it."

"Seriously?"

"Not my fault I look better in your clothes." Grayson shrugs, seeming bored with the conversation.

"You're an asshole," Kaden grumbles.

Not once during their interaction did he stop playing with her hair. Sierra smooths a hand over his chest without coming into contact with the healing wound there. His unbuttoned shirt makes it easier to differentiate between warm skin and dressing.

Grayson is hovering by the bed to complete his routine checks: the monitors, the wires and tubes, his brother. He even goes as far as pressing the back of his hand to his forehead to check his temperature.

Kaden jerks away. "Stop fussing over me."

"Never." He's inspecting the dressing on his bicep.

Kaden swats his hand away. "Cut it out."

"Stop."

"Grayson." His frustration underpins his rough voice.

"I'm trying to be nice."

"Leave me alone." Kaden is trying to push him away again. Though with one hand versus two, his attempt is futile.

"Stop stressing. Didn't you hear that woman? Stress is bad."

"Her name is Paisley," he utters bitterly.

"Interesting." Grayson's tone suggests it's anything but. Further proof is shown in the way he pokes and prods at the IV in his hand.

"Owー if you don't stop I'll knock you the fuck out."

"I'd love to see you try."

"Why are you a raging asshole all the time?"

"I get it from you." Grayson finally settles into his chair. He's purposely scooted it as close to his bedside as possible.

"Are you two still bickering?" Hope doesn't look up from her phone as she strolls into the room.

"Incessantly." Her mother pulls a face. "Can't say I hate it though. I've missed this, as annoying as it is."

"It's annoying for me to be concerned?" Grayson asks, feigning offence.

"It's disgusting," Kaden answers.
