Lightly knocking on the open door, Grayson stands in the doorway with his hands in his pockets. "Busy?" He rests a shoulder against the doorframe.

Hitting save and closing the tab, Sierra sits back in her seat with a warm gaze, shaking her head. He steps into the study.

"Kaden called to say he has no idea how long he'll be, and for the time being, I'm the man of the house."

"He said that?"

He unknowingly smiles at her amused chuckle. "He did."

"How does it feel to have all the power?"

"No different." He wanders around and glances at the spines of various books. "Because I always have the power." She hums, following his movements with curious eyes. "I need to speak to a guy about business. Don't want to bring you with me but I don't want to leave you home alone either."

She bows her head. "Yeah I don't really want to be alone right now."

"I'll take you out for lunch after to make up for it."

The room falls silent as she stares with an open mouth.

"You don't usually like doing things like that."

"I'll make an exception."

"Okay... Do I need to dress up? Will we be going to some expensive place or a fast food restaurant up the street?" She somewhat giggles again at her own lighthearted joke, shutting down the laptop.

"Expensive, obviously. You deserve the best." He snaps the book shut that he'd been inspecting, slotting it back into the middle of the shelf while remaining unaware of her pink cheeks. "And there's no need for you to change, you look..."

Now that she's stood by the desk with one hand on the edge of it and the other on her hip, he can see her clearly. Looking angelic as ever in her new pastel yellow summer dress with her hair styled in perfect, loose curls.

He subtly swallows, searching for the right words and failing miserably. It's scary how she can render him speechless like this; by doing nothing besides breathing. She tucks a stray piece of hair behind her ear, arching a brow as she patiently awaits for him to finish.

"I look horrible?" She chooses to give him a helping hand when he simply blinks. From her perspective it seemed like he lost track of thought and his imagination went elsewhere. If only she knew the half of it.

"Yeah." He clears his throat. "Awful."

"You look pretty awful too."

"That's what I was aiming for." He follows her out of the study, scolding himself for appearing so vulnerable in front of her. Again.

After getting a bag and slipping her phone inside, she climbs into the car he swept himself off to. For the duration of the journey she peers through the window. Observing the hundreds of lives unfolding around them and the various buildings until they arrive at the warehouse.

He kills the engine and sits back in his seat, earning a bewildered frown from Sierra who'd expected him to head straight inside.
