Scrunching her face thinking it'll somehow improve her hearing, she lightheartedly rolls her eyes. "Yes I know what I'm doing," Sierra repeats while slipping between bodies. "Would you stop worrying? I said I got this. I learnt from the best did I not? Oh, for the love of God Kadenー"
A shoulder greets hers and she whirls around after accidentally ending the call. "I'm so clumsy I'm so sorry Iー"
The grey haired woman adjusts her bag and looks up, noticing her smile falter upon recognising the familiar face. She never forgets a face.
"I'm sorry, did I hear you say Kaden?"
"Oh my god. You're Esmee. And you're Blayk." The man by her side frowns. "Blayk and Esmee Roman." She can't believe the words are rolling off her tongue. Roman.
"Do we know you?" he questions.
"I'm Sierra. Sierra Cosima."
"I know that name." She clicks her fingers. "You wrote the article on our sons."
"Yeah. Yes that wasー that was me."
"Can't say I appreciate you giving them more publicity. Like they need more attention."
"I was just doing my job."
"I've read about you," Blayk adds. "I've seen you all over social media too."
"Social media isn't always truthful," Sierra mumbles, sparing a glance at her phone as Kaden calls her again.
"Did you or did you not help our youngest to break out of prison? The place he belongs I might add."
"No. No I had no part in thatー"
"You were close with them." Esmee steps forwards. "I read your article before it was taken down. You were so terrified. You were waiting for them to take your life too. Why are you still here? You should've left the city. You should've run when you had the chance."
"I don'tー"
"Don't engage with them," Blayk curtly interrupts. "You called them dangerous but you don't truly understand who you're messing with. They're not the boys we raised."
"You don't know them."
"And you do?" Esmee challenges.
"Do you?" Blayk interrogates. "What did they tell you? What exactly happened between the three of you all those years ago?"
"A lot happened," Sierra answers broadly, her head spinning from the quick-fire questions. "I'm just saying people change."
"Not them. They'll always be monsters." She then grabs Sierra's wrist. "Stay away from them. Do you hear me? If they come for you, run. I don't even know how you're still alive. If they wanted you dead, you'd be a sack of rotting bones beneath the earth by now."
Sierra breathes heavily. "Why are you in New York? You don't live here."
"Visiting friends."
