For what feels like the hundredth time, Sierra rubs her sore neck then rolls her head side to side to alleviate some of the tension there. The armchair was comfortable for the first few hours but now it feels like concrete to her stiff muscles.
Grayson is restless. Constantly fidgeting and grumbling unhappily to himself. Hope briefly lifts her gaze from her phone, returning her attention to the device shortly after once he settles.
It's temporary though. No less than a minute later he's back to shuffling and exhaling loudly. Fiddling with the various blankets he's tucked under, brows knitted together.
"You alright bubs?" Sierra's tone is endearing. A light smile forming because of his little disgruntled face.
"No," is all he utters.
A moment after, Kaden wanders back into the room with an oddly relaxed expression dawning on his face. Instantly he picks up on his brother's bad mood. Comes to a standstill beside his bed with a vague look of concern.
Grayson wordlessly lifts his hand up for Kaden to grasp, slowly and cautiously helping him to lift up. Once his legs are over the edge and he's upright with support from Kaden, he nods, satisfied with the new position. He's hated lying flat on his back for so long.
Hope cheers quietly. He glimpses her over his shoulder. "Don't do that it's insulting."
"Sorry." She catches her mother contain an amused chuckle.
Grayson hovers his hand over his stinging wound. "Can I have more?"
Kaden checks the time. "Seven minutes."
Sierra's smile is a loving one. He's so attentive. Remembers everything, notices everything. He's different in so many ways compared to how he was when they first met.
"You should eat something," Hope suggests.
His head shakes in silent refusal. Except Sierra's brows furrow and her head tilts to the side a little. It's her way of persuading him. A simple blink of her soft doe eyes as if to say do it for me. Kaden is wearing a similar look.
"Fine," he murmurs.
Sierra nods to Hope who nearly skips out of the room to find something he enjoys. Perhaps something healthy too in case he complains about his musclesー he's been doing that a lot recently.
"Honey you're in pain like this." Sierra draws attention to the creases painting his forehead.
"One more minute."
It is painful sitting like this, especially when he's still gathering his strength, but the stretch is nicer than just lying there for hours on end with no break. He can't bear it.
"Just one," Kaden says.
Sierra masks her disapproval by attaching her wandering eyes to the window. Rogue is stood by the pristine glass, toothpick between his teeth. He nods his head once.
She masks her contentment by looking down at the sleeves of Kaden's hoodie which have been pulled over her knuckles. Not only is it immensely comfortable since it drowns her, it's engulfed in his scent. In his words it looks better on her than it does him.
