Another glance over her shoulder confirms the man nearby is still gawking. Sierra hollows her cheeks and turns her back to him and his friend who whispers something. Head tilting as Nate counts the bills one last time before securing them with a band.

"Sorry. OCD." His smile is a partially guilty one as he hands over the agreed amount. "Have to do everything in threes. Even if I know it's all there."

"All good." Her soft chuckle puts him at ease. He clicks his fingers, each hand three times, as he looks around the busy street. It was his decision to meet somewhere public. "Are those guys off your back?"

"Yeah. Tell them I said thank you for the help. And thanks for agreeing to meet me here. Same place next time?"

"You got it."

"See you around." He nods his head, somewhat jogging to the pedestrian crossing.

Her smile fades when she turns around, locking eyes with the same man from before because he is still observing her. A mere few feet away now. His friend raises his chin, hands on his belt while she stares them down.

"What?" she snaps.

"Just looking," the original speaks up.

"Look elsewhere or I'll take your eyes."

He scoffs. "Keep your panties on will you? Was only looking, don't flatter yourself." He shares a smile with his friend. "You ain't a catch."

"I'm hurt." She feigns a frown.

"Hold on now." He extends an arm to catch her wrist. She's quick to snatch herself away, eyes blazing. "I never said I wasn't interested."

"Don't touch me again." It's a warning spat from gritted teeth before she marches away.

In the reflection of store windows she can see them both following. Broad daylight, hundreds of witnesses, not that that is likely to hinder their plans.

"Where are you going sweetheart?"

"Leave me the hell alone."

A suspicious man lowers his phone from his ear. "Hey, these guys bothering you?" He looks from the exasperated woman to the smirking couple on her tail.

"Nah, she's fine," one answers.

"Yes. They're bothering me," comes her irked response. "They're behaving like stalkers."

"Leave the lady alone. The hell is wrong with you?"

The friend steps closer and opens his leather coat enough to reveal the sidearm tucked beneath. "Why don't you take your call somewhere else." He shoves his shoulder to push him aside.

"Leave him alone." Sierra holds out her hand when he's forced into a table belonging to the outdoor seating area of a cafe.

The taller man takes her hand and spins her around, walking her forwards. His grip tightens when she squirms and pushes against him, yelling out. Most civilians are so tuned into their own worlds and busy staring at their phones they don't even notice her struggling.
