"It's beautiful over here. I don't wanna leave."
"Stay as long as you want, all I care about is that you're happy and safe. I know Eiza and Diego are taking good care of you and Rosa so stay a little longer if you'd like, we won't mind."
"As much as I'd love to, I'm coming home tomorrow as planned. I gotta take care of you when dad and uncle Grayson are too busy."
"I'm perfectly fine," Sierra protests.
"If you say so. How are they doing?"
"Your dad's in a bad mood this morning and your uncle is... Oh, there he is." She offers the man a smile when he appears, earning a single nod of his head in return as expected.
"Good luck with dad. Rosa wants to go back for more drinks, I'll text you later."
"Please drink responsibly."
"Sure mom, bye love you!"
She drops the phone onto her deck chair and takes Rosa's hand, the couple giggling as they race across the warm sand to the drinks hut. Diego greets them with a pearly smile, passing drinks to everyone.
Grayson cocks a brow as she stands behind the sofa, abandoning her phone on one of the cushions. "Dare I ask?"
She glances at the man behind them, pacing back and forth and ranting on the phone. "I think some guy is trying to back out of a deal they made. Said he can't deliver some guns on the agreed date."
"Why am I not surprised." He sighs.
Her face creases when the picture on the television glitches and flickers to black. The haunting symbol appearing in the centre with a boom that vibrates the speakers. Sierra sucks in a breath and instantly grabs his hand, feeling him hold onto her as soon as he turns to view it.
"Kaden," she struggles to yell.
"I'll call you back." He stops to her left.
The three of them are frozen in place as the symbol disappears to let the footage play. The camera is raised to show a Shadow pacing back and forth by the couple knelt on the floor. Their hands locked and held behind their heads.
"I'm sorry, can you repeat what you just said for me?" comes a gravelly voice that has them tensing.
"I said I'm not spending another cent on either of them," Blayk argues. "I'm done with them. I want nothing to do with thoseー those murderers!"
"You do understand what we're saying? We're going to kill your son, Grayson, along with Kaden's family. Meaning Sierra, the mother of his child, and Hope, his child. Because we want your other son, Kaden, to suffer for what he did to us."
He glares at the patronising tone. "I understand what you're saying, and I couldn't care less. Kill both of them if you wish."
Sierra's mouth drops open. To defend them and for them to betray her like this? Without even considering to change their minds for a second. It's like a strong punch in the gutー and she's no stranger to how that feels.
