Heels click against the floor, designer bag being left on the couch as the blonde strides through the house. She soon enters the conference room where a handful of men are already seated around the expansive table.
"I'm here." She flicks her hair over her shoulder, smiling down at the brothers once she's stood beside her man. A pointed glance when fingers brush against the back of her leg.
"We understand you're busy people so we won't keep you long," Ronan begins. "As you know I'm your guy when it comes to investigating suspicious activity and neutralising threats. What I've been monitoring recently hasn't raised flags until about a week ago."
"Word on the street is there's a new type of gang forming," West informs.
"A gang," Sierra echoes.
"More like a mob."
Xavier braces an elbow on the armrest of his seat. "We've noticed an increase in gangs and gang-like activity. It was contained to a few major hot spots across the city, the usual places you'd expect such incidents, but over the course of the last two to three weeks things have gotten worse."
Tyson slides a file across the table. "We've also seen an increase in weapon sales, some legal some not. I'm not just talkin' about a few standard sidearms that most people are carrying nowadays. I'm talking serious shit. The kinda stuff we pack and move."
Kaden flicks through the file with Grayson peering down at the papers. If they're perturbed by this news they're good at concealing it behind blank faces. If anything it appears as though this news is ordinary, like they hear this every day and it's growing tiresome to listen to.
"Why?" Sierra pops the question.
"People aren't happy," Ezra answers simply. "Not everyone agrees with how this city is running."
"And not everyone agrees with you being above everyone else."
"I never claimed to be above anyone," Sierra argues. It's true. Though she always knew in the back of her mind people would dislike the power difference.
She's gotten away with things she shouldn't have. Like making a scene in public recently because she allowed her anger and anxiety take control. She's taken lives and not once been held accountable for her actions. Something like this was bound to happen eventually.
"Doesn't matter. You guys are in charge and people are out for blood. They're calling themselves the New Order, telling the public they plan to take back New York for good. They mean business."
"Most of the public aren't interested in what they're proposing but groups are being influenced."
"For now we're keeping it contained in the city but if we don't get on this fast, their views will spread across the entire country."
Kaden slaps the file against the table, running a hand over his mouth. "I'll pay them a visit," he announces after a beat of silence.
Slowly, Sierra twists her head to stare down at him, incredulity lacing her voice when she speaks. "You'll pay them a visit."
"Yeah." He shrugs. "I'll talk to them."
She has yet to blink and he's noticed. "Alone?"
