Best Friend's Keeper (Book Two)

Chapter 6

When they leave the room they head straight for the banquet hall where the commencing ceremony is being held. When they get there the hall is beautifully decorated with Gold decorations and trimming. They look around everybody is wearing beige and brown, before they can react to the scenery Kristina’s mentor, Malcolm walks over towards them wearing a perfectly tailored beige suit and a white buttoned down shirt with the first two buttons opened showing a peep of a seemingly muscular chest, before he gets to talk Kristina immediately jumps to the chance to say something first, “Mr. Knight, was there a dress code intact?” Kristina says to him feeling self conscious.

“Please call me Malcolm and yes I forgot to mention that I apologize. However, you look amazing and as my mentee you stand out just as you are supposed to,” he says as he flashes a huge smile.

Kristina feels the smile touch her skin, “Thank you.” she says as she blushes. Then she hears Javier coughing behind her as he puts his arm around her waist causing her stomach to flip upside down, “Oh I didn’t get to introduce you to the people in my room earlier. These are my friends Javier and Sarah.” she says with a smile.

Malcolm shakes both of their hands, “Pleasure to meet you Javier and Sarah.” he says with a smile, “Well Kristina in a few they will start the ceremony so be sure to sit at any table in the front. I’ll see you later on tonight.” he says as he flashes another smile as he excuses himself and walks away.

“He’s just too hot.” Sarah says as she stares after him.

“You need something to drink? Because the thrist is critical.” Javier says as walks them to a table filled with condiments and drinks.

Kristina and Sarah laugh so hard they draw attention to themselves, when they finally calm down they get small plates and start to fill them with appetizers and other snacks. After a few minutes the lights in the banquet hall dimmed, indicated the ceremony was starting so they found a table in the front close to the stage as a waiter quickly appears to the table handing them menus asking them what they would like to eat as a main course meal, “I would like a Salisbury Steak with potatoes and a Caesar Salad.” Kristina says to him kindly as she hands him back her menu.

“What about you two?” The waiter asks to Javier and Sarah. They both decided to get the same thing as Kristina. “Mr. Knight has decided to put a change in the ceremonial event by adding alcoholic beverages to the menu as well as an open bar. Anything to drink?” he asks them.

“Oh we too live. Can I get White Knight for me, Bacardi Grand Melon on ice for you right?” he says to Sarah as she nods her head in approval, “And a coke for her.” he adds.

“Hey!” Kristina says in protest.

“Holdup, Is all this free?” Sarah asks the waiter as she ignores Kristina.

“Yes Madame,” he answers.

“Then keep the drinks coming.” Javier says as closes his menu and hands it to the waiter as the waiter nods and takes Sarah menu and walks away.

 Before Kristina can argue about what just happened with the drinks the lights completed went out as stage lights brightened showing a podium as a lady in her mid-40s with salt and pepper colored hair walks to the podium. “Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Honor’s Society 78th Commencing Ceremony.” The speaker pauses as the hall erupted in a polite applause, “My name is Paula White and I will be your host for the evening,” she says with a smile, “Allow me to introduce the Chairmen of the Honor Society …”

“Ughhh this sounds like it’s going to be a long ass boring night already.” Sarah groans loud enough for the tables near to hear as the waiter quietly comes and gives them their drinks.
