Wanda POV:

I drive up to the address Stark sent Nat and pull the car in behind the small house. We are off the beaten road and hidden away in some trees. I turn off the car and pull the keys out of the ignition but none of us move. Nat leans to the side to look in the side mirror then she twists around in her seat to check our surroundings.

It is peaceful out here. I can hear some small animals scurrying in the brush and birds chirping in the trees. "Let me go check the house, I'll be right back." I drop the keys into Nat's lap then climb out. We haven't heard anything from Steve or Y/N over the coms. I pull out my phone to check the time. It has been about twenty minutes since we parted from them.

I lift my hands up in front of me and form a small ball of energy in both hands ready to fire as I walk around the house to the front door. I use the hidden key in the porch light Stark told us about to unlock the front door then hit the light switch in the entry way. The main hallway lights up revealing a freshly cleaned house. I can smell the chemicals. Stark must have cleaning crews come every once in a while to keep the safehouses presentable.

I take my time checking every room but find nothing to raise concerns. I go back out to the car through the back door to tell Nat but find her standing outside the car on the phone facing away from me. Hayde is still in the backseat just watching Nat.

"What are you talking about Steve?" Nat's voice sounds unsure. I can't make out what Steve is saying. Nat goes quiet as she listens to Steve, "Yeah, yeah. We'll be there soon. Stay put." She hangs up the phone and turns around to see me. "Wanda," I caught her off guard.

"House is clear." Nat nods her head and takes a step towards me cautiously. "Steve called. He is sending me the location to pick them up." She is treading carefully. There is something she isn't telling me.

"Nat, what's going on? Is Y/N okay?" That would be the only reason she is acting like this. "Steve is with her right now. We just need to go get them okay?" I look past Nat at the man still sitting in the back of the car. "What about him? We shouldn't bring him with but we probably shouldn't leave him alone to wander."

Hayde probably thinks we are deliberating killing him as we keep glancing over at him while we speak. "Cuff him inside?" I nod my head. "Works for me."

We get Hayde positioned inside and make it as comfortable as possible for him. Nat brings him a glass of water and we turn the tv on for him in the living room. "We will be back shortly." He didn't fight us on locking him up however he is not happy with us. Probably the only reason he isn't fighting us is one, I saved his life and two, he knows we could kill him if we wanted.

I lock the door behind us then follow Nat back around the house to the car. "Keys?" I lift my hand in the air for her to toss them to me but Nat just spins them around her finger instead. "I think I should drive, Wanda." Nat avoids eye contact as she starts the car.

"Tell me what happened." She puts the car into drive and starts to head back into town. "There was an incident. Y/N chased the shooter down and Steve knocked him across the road with his shield. Turns out the shooter is Drew."

He hasn't even been on our radar of someone to track yet since we weren't even sure he was alive. Nat normally doesn't get nervous or at least visually nervous but she is tapping her fingers on the steering wheel as she drives. "What else?"

She glances over at me briefly before looking out at the road again. "Drew has abilities. Like we thought he would. Whatever he can do, he incapacitated Steve then Y/N with just a touch of his hand." I can see why she is hesitant to tell me. I can feel my magic wanting to come out, to react.

Nat reaches over and grabs ahold of my hand lightly. "I need you to stay calm okay?" I nod my head as I look out at the road afraid to look at Nat, to see the look on her face.

"Y/N is unconscious right now but she is still breathing. Steve carried her to an abandoned building, and they are waiting for us there. Steve doesn't know what Drew's abilities did, but he said it was extremely painful. Her mind probably did this to cope."

I don't know what to say. Nat continues holding onto my hand until we pull up to the building. I want to be mad at Y/N but I know I can't be. She was trying to do what she thought was right. The side door of the building is cracked open and I spot Steve inside sitting next to Y/N.

My heart wins out for the moment as I rush out of the car and run inside. All I need in the moment is her. I drop down immediately and drag Y/N's head into my lap. Steve stands up and walks over to Nat when she walks through the door.

"Why did you do that, Y/N?" I lightly trace my fingers along the side of her face then down to her pulse point. Her pulse is strong, stronger than I was expecting. Nat walks over to me and kneels down. "Let's get back to the safe house okay?"

Steve helps me lift Y/N into the car. I slide in next to her in the backseat and pull her head into my lap. Nat starts the car back up as Steve pulls out his phone. It rings a couple times before it connects. "Hey Tony, yeah, we're okay, still unconscious, I know, here's what happened."

Steve finishes telling Stark what happened and ends the call right as Nat parks behind the house. She walks ahead of us inside to check on Hayde while Steve helps me. We get inside and Steve sets Y/N down on the small couch in the corner of the room. Nat unclipped Hayde's cuffs but he is still sitting on the other couch.

I sit down on the same side as Y/N's head but on the floor and reach up to interlock our hands. I keep waiting for some movement to show she is waking up but nothing yet. Steve gets his shield out from the car and places it in the entryway by the door before moving to stand in front of Hayde. Nat is leaning against the entryway doorway.

Hayde seems a bit intimidated by us watching him. His hands are shaky as he picks at his pant legs. Steve turns around and looks out the windows at the surrounding trees. He folds his arms across his chest and sighs. "Hayde, we need to know everything."

Steve's voice is stern, intimidating. He was there with Y/N today. He was attacked too. It seems to be hitting him hard. "I, I only want to speak to Y/N. She needs to be the one to hear it first." Hayde's voice is shaky as he speaks but he doesn't budge.

"Tell us about Drew's abilities then." Steve turns back around to face Hayde. "I shouldn't yet. Not until she wakes up." Nat takes a step forward away from the doorway. "What about your involvement?" Hayde nervously turns to look at Nat. "We need to wait."

We aren't getting anywhere. It feels like my chest is being compressed by gravity more so that usual. The walls and ceiling feel like they are getting closer blocking us in. I squeeze the hand not holding Y/N's into a tight fist in my lap and close my eyes. I need to stay in control.

"I don't know who you people are. I only trust Y/N." That's it. He must have a death wish for today. I place Y/N's hand back on the couch next to her and slowly stand up. I know my eyes are red now. Hayde tries to scoot back away from me as I take a couple of steps forward.

"We need to know everything, now. You are lucky I haven't killed you yet." I point back at Y/N as red whisps begin to flow out of my hands. "This is your fault and if anything happens to her because you withheld information. You are going to wish that bullet had entered your skull because what I could do to you is much, much worse. So, you either tell us or I make you."

Hayde's eyes are huge as he looks at me. I grow the red whisps in my hands and let them move out towards him. Nat and Steve don't interfere. I have enough control right now to not actually hurt him but we need him to talk.

"We need to wait. This is in Y/N's best interest. What is happening to her is-," Steve moves away from us and stands over by Nat. Hayde turns to look over at Nat and Steve completely panicked pleading with them. He changes his course of words. "Don't let her do this. This is normal. Y/N should wake up soon!"

Nat and Steve both shift their attentions from Hayde to behind me. Her voice. It pulls me out of my tunnel vision focus. "Wanda," I turn around and see Y/N opening up her eyes slowly. It is like a switch flipped in my brain. I pull back the red whisps and blink away the red in my eyes.

"Y/N," I spin around and drop down to my knees next to her. I lunge forward wrapping my arms around her neck. The tears start dropping uncontrollably as she wraps her arms around my back. "Hi, babe. I'm okay. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
