Y/N POV-

The recruits, Wanda, and I all meet up with Specialist Grace in the gym at our usual time. "Good morning everyone." Specialist Grace motions for us to follow her. Wanda and I bring up the rear trailing close behind as she leads us to the interrogation rooms.

"Alright recruits. Today, we are going to run you through a mental psych analysis with our head psychiatrist at Hydra. Again, this is just to provide a baseline. There are no wrong answers and you will not be penalized or pulled from this program for what you say. We just want honest answers."

All of the recruits nod their heads. I wrap my arm around Wanda's waist as we listen to Specialist Grace, "And Y/N, I'd like to run one on you as well." My grip tightens slightly and Wanda can feel it. "Yeah, um, okay." I guess this is a failsafe in case the machine doesn't work and I take in Drew's mental instability.

Wanda places her hand onto mine locking our fingers together. She turns her head towards me leaning in towards my ear. "Breathe, it's okay." I tilt my head to face her kissing her forehead, "Thank you."

Specialist Grace opens the interrogation room door and pulls out her phone to read something. "Mason, you're up first." He steps forward, a cocky smirk on his face as he walks through the doorway.

I squeeze Wanda's hand once, "Hey, will you stay here with them so I can watch some of these?" She nods her head, "Of course. Go." She squeezes my hand back before letting go.

I step into the side room attached to the interrogation space. It looks different this time. They have the lights on making it less intimidating. There is a huge machine and a computer sitting on the table between Mason and the psychiatrist.

"What is that for?" There is an extra man in the room who attaches a couple of patches to Mason's chest and places something on his first two fingers. Specialist Grace is typing away on her phone when she answers me. "Lie detector test. We don't need them to lie on the baseline." She seems unfazed by this.

Once Mason is all hooked up, the psychiatrist begins to ask him questions. "Good morning Mason, my name is Dr. Gallagher." He nods his head looking somewhat bored.

She asks him some generic questions to set the baseline for his test before she starts asking some tougher questions. "So, Mason. You are a part of the elite being selected for this role in the experimental division of Hydra. Do you think you deserve it?"

He radiates confidence as he speaks, "Yeah, of course. I worked my ass off to be here. I want to be the reason Hydra succeeds in taking over control of the world. Everyone will know my name." So arrogant. I picked up on that though when I first met him. He hasn't connected with the others as quickly remaining focused on himself, not a team player.

Dr. Gallagher continues on after the computer determines he isn't lying. "How would you describe your life growing up?" He seems to lose a little bit of his bravado at the question. "Mom and Dad are Hydra agents, always working so I was alone a lot. No siblings. I only got their attention when I succeeded so I worked hard at everything I did."

The screen continues to have normal readings. He is telling the truth, "So would you call yourself a perfectionist?" He nods his head, "Yes. I think it will help me best when working through new abilities. I'll work at it until they are perfect."

Dr. Gallagher likes his responses. "If you were able to choose what ability you were gifted, what would you choose?" Mason hesitates thinking it over before answering, "Strength."

She continues to ask a couple more questions before announcing, "Okay, last question. Do you feel like any part of your mental health and stability would be a risk to Hydra?" He answers a quick no. Dr. Gallagher checks his levels then nods towards the man in the corner. "All done, thank you, Mason."
