Wanda POV-
Y/N and I both pause listening for any noise, anything that could suggest we found a hidden spot. "Did you hear anything?" I shake my head no. "Let's go check the house. Hopefully, we opened up the spot, and we'll see it." Y/N stands up and extends her hand towards me to take. "Let's do this."
We find nothing in the kitchen or living room. We clear the entire first floor then move to the second floor. There are no opened spaces in the walls or under the furniture. We move up the stairs to the third floor with our fingers crossed.
We spend a little more time here before we call it. I can tell Y/N is feeling defeated. She sits down on the edge of her bed and places her head in her hands. "I thought we'd find it. Something. Anything to help explain." I look over my shoulder at the door that leads to the piano. We didn't check in there.
I leave Y/N sitting on the bed and walk towards the door. "Where are you going?" Y/N follows me across the room. "When did you say they put the padding up?" I can see the gears turning in her head. "Couple weeks before they died, they did it while I was in school. I came home to it up."
I place my hand on the doorknob and twist it open. Y/N reaches her hand inside the wall and runs her fingers across the light. This has to be it. This was the only thing out of place, a space only Y/N would find.
The light fills the small space and from initial inspection reveals nothing. Y/N lifts the cover of the piano and looks inside of it to find nothing. I shut the door behind us and finally see something. The padding on the wall behind the door is jutting forward like something is pressing on it.
Y/N sees it too. "Could that be?" She drops down to the floor and slowly pulls at the padding ripping it from the wall in one piece. There is a small metal door that is propped open. The latch is preventing it from shutting.
I kneel down next to her as she inspects it. "I don't see any triggers, nothing potentially dangerous." It makes sense they would put it in here. Y/N is the only one who uses her piano and she always shuts the door. If the button were somehow activated, she would be the one to notice the padding change. Her parents were smart.
Y/N lightly grabs the edge of the metal door and swings it open to reveal a small metal enclosed cubby. It couldn't be wider than a sheet of paper and only our hands could fit. "Is there anything inside?" Y/N pulls her phone out of her pocket and turns on the flashlight pointing it towards the cubby.
There is only a small, folded piece of paper in the very back corner, nothing else. Y/N turns off her phone light and grabs the paper. This is what we have been waiting for. She unfolds the paper to show a name and phone number only. Hayde Aston Danehy. The area code numbers are 202.
"Where are the numbers for the phone number? Isn't that in D.C.?" Y/N opens her phone up and types in the area code. "Yep, Washington D.C." She pulls up her maps to get a drive time from New York down to Washington, D.C. "It is only about four hours south of us if whoever they are still lives where they got their phone number."
We both get quiet as we stare down at the sheet of paper in Y/N's hand. "Do I call them?" She opens up the piano room door and walks back into the main space of her room. "Up to you but we could have Stark run a trace on it, get some info before you call."
I step closer to Y/N who currently has her back turned to me looking down at the sheet of paper in her hand. I wrap my arms around her waist and lean forward lightly kissing the back of her neck. "What are you going to do?"
She turns around in my grasp and lifts her arms up placing them around my neck. "I need to be safe about this. Let's have Stark run the trace and go from there. Now that we know I am involved with Hydra, I probably need to be more careful about going in public too."
