Wanda POV-
Y/N and I clean up the kitchen when everyone is done eating. She walks up to me as I am cleaning the last pot and places her hand on my side leaning into me. "Thank you for making dinner, babe." She kisses the side of my head before stepping back. "Of course, did you like the cake?"
She nods her head. "Yeah, it was super good. When did you guys make it?" I turn off the water and dry my hands on the towel next to me. "While you were running. Peter frosted it when you fell asleep." Y/N laughs as I step up to her and wrap arms around her neck. "I figured."
She leans forward and meets me halfway. I can feel her smiling into the kiss. She feels lighter today, less tense. Nat breaks up the moment by calling out from the living room, "Hey lovebirds! Come watch this movie with us!" Y/N readjusts and pulls me into a hug. "We'll be right there, Nat!"
Y/N holds on like she is afraid to let go. "Thank you for today, Wanda." She finally unlocks her hands from around my back releasing her grip. "I know you don't like the attention all on you so I hope this wasn't too much for you."
She looks so happy as she stares back at me. "It was perfect." She reaches forward and takes my hand in hers to guide me out to the living room with her to watch the movie with everyone else.
When the movie ends, we all go our separate ways. Everyone throws a happy birthday over their shoulders in passing at Y/N as we walk towards the bedrooms.
"Do I get to find out what you so secretly threw into your room earlier and wouldn't let me see? You know I hate surprises." Y/N stops at my bedroom door with me. "Hmm, I don't know. How bad do you want to see?" Y/N places her hand on the doorknob and gets ready to turn it. "It's been killing me all day."
She pushes open the door and I follow after her. I grab the bag off my bed and hand it to Y/N. "Sorry it isn't wrapped. You didn't really give me a lot of time." Y/N takes the bag from me with a smile on her face as she reaches inside and pulls out her gift. "You bought me a new hoodie!" She excitedly sets the bag down and begins to pull the hoodie over her head.
"I figured I took one of your favorites so I should replace it. Or if you want yours back, I can-," Y/N steps forward and takes my hands in hers. "It looks better on you anyway." She looks down at her new hoodie and then back up to me. "Look good?" I nod my head. "Might have to steal that one too."
Y/N rolls her eyes and lightheartedly laughs. "I guess I can allow that. You're lucky I like you." I grab ahold of her new hoodie by the collar and pull her towards me. "Thank god cause I like you too."
Y/N POV-
I wake up in the morning with Wanda holding onto my arm and my new hoodie between us. Oh Wanda. She must have grabbed it at some point in the middle of the night. I slide my arm out from under her and grab the old hoodie of mine she loved to put on it. I love it; it smells like her.
I carefully slip out of my bedroom door and walk down the hall towards the kitchen. "Good morning, Y/N." Nat pours me a cup of coffee. "Good morning." We both take our cups over to the couches to sit.
Nat cocks her head to the side slightly as she looks at me. "That isn't your new one, right?" I shake my head no with a smile on my face. "Wanda snatched it in the middle of the night and was sleeping with it when I woke up so I grabbed this one. It probably doesn't smell like me anymore so it was only a matter of time before she told me to wear it again."
Our laughter echoes around the room as Steve comes walking in. "Ladies," he walks past us to get his coffee. "Oh, that reminds me. I'll be right back." Nat jumps up from her seat and runs to her room to grab something. Steve seems to know what she is doing. He sits down across from me to wait.
"Here," She comes walking back with a small box in hand. "Happy birthday." I open up the box and inside is a new pair of headphones, Bluetooth wireless ones. "I was actually looking at getting these a couple of weeks ago. Thank you, Nat."
She sits back down next to Steve and picks up her coffee. "They're from all of us. We know how much you like your music. Now, you don't have to deal with wires while you train." I pick up one of the headphone pieces and examine it. They bought them in blue. One of my favorite colors. "These are perfect, thank you guys."
Stark comes walking into the room a couple minutes later followed by Hayde. "Good morning everyone, Y/N, can you come with me?" I push myself off the couch as Wanda walks into the room wearing my new hoodie. She looks at me confused as I go to follow Stark. I shrug my shoulders. Feels like I am in trouble.
Wanda follows behind me catching up to grab ahold of my hand. "Why does he need you?" I glance over my shoulder at her. Her hair looks like she recently rolled out of bed. She must have come right out of my room. "You heard as much as me."
We follow Stark down to the garage where the machine is. "Why are we down here?" My grip on Wanda's hand tightens enough for her notice. She rests her other hand on my arm. "I've had Hayde look at the machine and he thinks he could reverse engineer your memories, give them back to you."
I didn't realize it was the same machine that gave me my abilities that also took my memories. "Okay, so?" Hayde looks up from the computer Stark hooked up down here. "Do you not want them back?" I don't answer. I didn't know this was an option, to get them back, to relive everything that was done to me.
"What if it is better I don't have them? Hydra erased them for a reason." Stark lifts his fingers up to his temples and rubs. "You were a kid. What if there is something in your memory that will help us beat Drew?" I turn my head to the side to look at Wanda. "This has to be your choice, Y/N. But, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do." She locks her eyes on Stark as she finishes her statement.
It would be nice to know. The only stuff we learned is from Hayde and Drew said that Hayde doesn't know everything. Maybe my memories are the key. "How would this work?"
Wanda POV-
I pull Y/N off to the side before Hayde starts hooking her up, "Are you sure, Y/N?" I place my hand against her cheek to get her to look at me. She nods her head. "I feel like I just need to know. What if this is the moment that changes whether we can defeat them or not? The amount of guilt I would feel," She trails off as she holds her hand to her heart. "I have to."
I drop my hand down, "I know you do." Y/N looks down at her new hoodie on my body. "Damn, how do you make all of these look better on you?" She reaches forward and tugs on the sleeves to pull me closer to her. "Hmm, new ability maybe?" This helped make both of us smile out of the previous rough conversation.
Hayde calls Y/N over now that he is ready for her. "Hey, one last thing. No matter what you see, no matter what they blocked, don't shut me out okay?" Y/N leans forward and kisses me before squeezing my hand once. "Communication, I promise."
She crawls into the machine and Hayde hooks up some wires to her to take vitals. I hear her heartbeat begin to beep through the computer. Y/N looks up at him as he steps back. "How many times have you done this?" He lifts his hand to the door of the machine ready to close it. "More than I care to remember."
He shuts the door and clicks the lock into place. I stand in Y/N's direct line of view so she can see me, one less thing for her to worry about. "Is everything ready?" Stark is looking over Hayde's shoulder at the set up and computer software he is using. Hayde hits a couple of keys then turns to look back over at Y/N. He hits the space bar one causing the machine to begin rattling. "It has begun."
