Wanda POV-
We end up running this exercise two more complete times, each one failing. Y/N was caught the second time and Drew the third. She either focuses on me too much or forgets about Drew. I can tell she is frustrated. She had to heal a couple more cuts each round from punches that happened to connect perfectly to split skin.
"Okay, let's call it for now." Specialist Grace walks down from her lofted area and types something into her phone. A couple minutes later, two nurses come walking into the room with their equipment in black bags.
"Y/N, go get checked out. Take it easy today. I'm bringing in more men tomorrow and we will try this again. Drew, Agent Jones needs you in interrogation." All of the agents dressed in tactical gear manage to get themselves off the floor and head for the door.
Y/N doesn't move from where she is standing. Her arms are crossed against her chest. "Y/N, go to your nurses." She shakes her head no. "I can take care of myself, thank you. Come on, Wanda. Let's go." Specialist Grace looks to me to reason with her.
"Babe, let them take a look, okay? Then we can go back to the room." She waivers on her feet. I know she can't say no to me. I take a couple steps closer and extend my hand out to her for her to take. "It'll be quick."
I get her to sit down on the bench with her back to the room as the nurses walk over. "Take off your shirt," I know she's in pain by the way she pulls her shirt off. She clenches her jaw and squints her eyes shut tight. She hands it to me as the nurses get to work.
Specialist Grace is watching from a distance at our interactions. She's not wrong. My relationship with Y/N makes us a good team but now they are throwing Drew into the mix. It is throwing off the balance because all she can think of and see is me.
I set Y/N's shirt down on the bench and step away to catch up with Specialist Grace before she leaves the room. She said Y/N and Drew's bond would get stronger the longer they are together. I wonder what she meant.
I jog over to her and stop by the door. Y/N can probably still hear our conversation if she tunes into it. "Specialist Grace, I just had a question." She looks up from her phone flashing a small smile. "Yes?" She slips her phone into her pocket giving me her full attention.
"What did you mean their bond would get stronger? Do you mean because of their ability or just because they will be hanging out more together?" Specialist Grace glances over my shoulder at Y/N before looking back at me.
"I've read the reports from when they were children. There were signs that they began to share some things like feelings, very minorly. Y/N was moved to her new home with a wiped memory before they could test it further."
So, she did mean because of their abilities. "She probably experienced some of his emotions today but just didn't realize they weren't completely hers. With their close proximity now, I believe it will continue to build."
I hear the sound of zippers most likely the nurses shutting their bags behind us. They must be done. "There is still so much we don't understand about their bond. I could use your help to keep her in check. She is stubborn but she listens to you, only you. While she might be the connection between the three of you, you are the stability. We need her in control if this is to work. Can I count on you to help?" I nod my head as I feel Y/N's hand rest on my hip.
"Thank you, Wanda. Y/N, take an easy day. This is how most of your days are going to go from here on out. We will do daily trainings and you will assist with interrogations when needed. Today, we thought Drew would be the best for that interrogation, but it will not always be him. Let me know if you need anything else otherwise I am off to my office."
Specialist Grace walks away through the double doors followed by the nurses leaving us alone. Y/N mumbles under her breath after the doors click shut a quiet, "Fuck." I turn inward to face her.
"They get you all patched up?" She nods her head. "They didn't believe that I only needed butterfly bandages so I have some gauze bandages on there too. They'll learn." I take her hand in mine as I step backwards towards the door. "I think it's time we get out of here."
Specialist Grace's Assistant POV-
I look down at my phone to see another text from Specialist Grace. "Y/N is with the nurse team now. You have ten minutes tops."
I look up at the electrician we have installing a new security camera in the light of the bathroom. We didn't expect them to shower together so the camera was not able to pick up the footage because the lens steamed over.
This new lens that Dr. Trager created shouldn't be affected by the steam. The electrician already installed a new mic in the corner of the shower by the shower head to help pick up anything said.
The rest of the cameras in the room are in perfect locations to pick up all movement, conversations, and sounds. "You have ten minutes max now." The electrician lets out a small huff of air. "I'll be done. Just have to hide the wire now. Check with command that the camera is working."
I text the security detail assigned to monitor this feed, "Is the new camera feed showing?" There is a quick response. "Yes ma'am. Bathroom feed is a go." The electrician steps down from his ladder and looks up to admire his handywork. "Perfect, everything is set."
He folds up his ladder and makes his way out of the room as I hold open the door for him. The elevator arrives quickly and we are out of the building in a matter of seconds. My phone buzzes with another text from Specialist Grace, "I just left. They are probably not far behind."
We turn right and take the long way around to go back to the security surveillance room set up to monitor Wanda and Y/N. I see them start to walk across the big field as we make it to the corner of the field farthest from them. We could not have timed that better.
I split from the electrician when we make it back and head into the small building completely devoted to video and audio surveillance. Very few individuals have access to this building. Wanda and Y/N have their own entire surveillance team monitoring everything they do.
I walk down the hallway to their room and walk in to see that Wanda and Y/N just arrived back to their room. "Hey Smith," he looks over his shoulder as I walk over to the camera feeds. "Hey, they just got back."
I sit down in the free seat next to him as he pulls up the main room feed. He cranks up the volume for us to hear their conversation. Y/N sets her hoodie and gun down on the side table as she carefully lays down on the bed.
Wanda walks over and sits down on the bed next to her cross legged. She takes Y/N's hand in hers resting them in her lap. "What do you want to do the rest of the day?" Y/N closes her eyes thinking over the question before sighing.
"I don't know what we can do. Maybe take a walk outside. We're going to get bored. I wonder if they could get me an electronic reader for books or even just Netflix." Wanda laughs at her comment.
"We could ask. I know they probably want to limit our internet connections for now until they trust us. You might be able to request books. I'm surprised they didn't take the phone you used to communicate with Drew but they can probably track anything you do on it. Not like we have anyone to talk to anyway, only each other."
Y/N rolls her head to the side to look at Wanda. "I wish they had like a little shop where we could get snacks. I could get more bandages so I don't have to have the nurse squad patch me up all the time." Wanda rolls her eyes at the comment. "They are only here to help you."
Y/N tugs on Wanda's arm. She lays down next to her resting on her side. "I know but I only like your touch on my body." Wanda laughs at her. "I know." Their talking subsides until they both drift asleep, their morning training drained them.
Smith turns down the audio and pushes back his chair from the desk to watch me, "Most of their conversations go like that. Nothing incriminating yet." I nod my head scanning over the feeds. Either they are being truthful or are very good at hiding it, most likely the latter hence all the surveillance.
"Alright Smith, I'll stop by later. Keep me posted with any updates." He waves his hand goodbye as he pulls out his phone to play a game. He throws an unenthusiastic, "Hail Hydra," over his shoulder before the door shuts. I mumble to myself as I start the walk towards Specialist Grace's office, "Hail Hydra indeed."
