Kissing Zeus

I don't know how long I cried but my pillow was wet from my painful tears. I didn't feel my pulse or my hands. I laid on my side in a fetal position. I hugged my legs and let out a loud cry. I could barely see how dark my room was from the water that was built up in my eyes. Zeus kept calling me and texting me but I turned my phone off. I didn't want to tell him anything. How can I tell him his mom is a cruel bitch? Besides I know Zeus, he'll yell at his mom and that would let her know I told him what happened.

The door creaked open. "Honey, you've been in your room all day and night. Come and eat something," I heard my mom's sweet voice.

"I'm not hungry. I just want to be alone, please," my words stuttered, they were all broken. You can barely make out what I was saying.

I heard the door close as my mom came closer to my bed. The edge of the bed dipped down. My mom's fingers raked my hair. "Ohh sweetie, what happened? You came in upset," my dad questioned what happened but I told him my stomach hurt. I held my tears in the car but now that I've been in my room all day. My mom worries when I'm upset.

"Nothing, my stomach hurts," I know she won't believe me.

"You can tell your dad that but you can't lie to me, Beau. Did something happen at Zeus's party?" hearing his name made me cry even more. "Did he hurt you?" she said with a serious tone.

"No."

"Then what is it, honey? I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on," she kept raking my hair. It was soothing but I wanted to be by myself.

"I'll tell you later, mom. I just want to be alone right now," I calmed down. I glanced out my window. I remembered the one night Zeus came when he found out his parents wanted to get a divorce. I comfort him and now he wasn't here to comfort me.

"Ok, sweetie. I'll leave some food in a Tupperware just in case you want some for later," she kissed the side of my head and left the room.

I cried myself to sleep that night then I woke up from a nightmare. Zeus's mom found out I was still friends with him. They moved to another country and I never saw him again. I didn't sleep much that night.

I woke up the next morning. I groaned while my body melted on the bed. My eyes stung and my head was groggy. I sat on the edge of the bed and waited for my body to wake up. It wasn't happening. I got up and turned on the light to my room. I saw myself in the mirror and for the first time, I had dark circles. My eyes were red and my hair was a mess. I glanced at my digital watch on top of my drawer and my eyes widen. It was 30 minutes till school started. Why didn't my parents wake me up? I got ready quickly. My dad was on the couch reading the newspaper. "Dad, why didn't you wake me up? I'm going to be late!" I didn't mean to yell at him but it's almost the end of the school year.

"Son, one day that you miss won't hurt you. You were snoring like crazy and I didn't want to wake you up," he stood up. I think he knew I wanted to go to school.
