It's been a week since I last talked to Beau, I've seen him around helping Mr. Empire. We exchanged a cordial smile and he would do his own thing. I still want to talk to him but we are too busy at the moment. My manager, Amanda, has me rehearsing and writing lyrics, this is all new to me, well working with a professional. They are all so welcoming at Empire Records, I've never felt this much love for music, something that has always been in my blood. My dad has always been supportive but my mother was never. I talk to her here and there but I haven't in a couple of months. She's with her new young baseball player. She always wanted money so she got it.
I ran into Zeus a couple of times, we have the same manager, it was not intentional but we had to work together on soundcheck and he taught me some tunes. He's still not my favorite person but at least he's not an ass. He's made me laugh a couple of times but we never talk about the past or Beau. We keep it professional and cordial.
"How are you liking Empire Records?" Amanda asked me. Her blue eyes studying me as she gave me a friendly smirk.
"It feels like family and I'm loving it. I've never been part of a record label so this is all new to me," my hands trembled with excitement because I could finally give back to my father. He's worked so hard to give me a future and now it's time to repay him.
"Well prepare to be famous because you're hella handsome and woman will be all over you," I chuckled and scratched the back of my neck.
"Ohh I'm sorry, are you..." she stopped as her cheek went a rosy tone.
"Yeah, I am."
"Well no worries, you'll have both then."
There was a gentle knock and Mr. Empire peeked his head inside the recording studio. He was always with a big grin on his face. I've never met someone so busy and always having a smile for 24 hours. "Son, you got a minute?" he asked.
I glanced at Amanda. "Ohh we are done for today. I'm going to check on Zeus," she grabbed her laptop and exited.
"Let's go to my office, son," I followed Mr. Empire to his office. He gestured to the leather seat in front of his desk. I fixed my leather jacket and brushed my hair away from my face. I studied him, he reminded me of someone but I couldn't figure out who. His blue eyes were a lot like Beau's, maybe I'm imagining things it's been a crazy couple of days.
"How are you liking it here, son. Is my staff treating you well?" he studied me with a huge smirk on his face.
"I love it, Mr. Empire. Thank you so much for this opportunity. Now I can help my dad. I don't want him working so much anymore."
His eyes softened and I saw a hint of pain in his eyes. His pleasant smile disappeared. Did I say something wrong?
"Sorry, son. It just brings me memories," he got up and walked towards the window. I could hear the busy streets and the sun was shining on the metropolitan city of Los Angeles.
