I didn't expect today to crumble like an avalanche. Zeus hasn't said a word to me, he's been quiet and I could tell in his eyes that he was filled with guilt. Rhett did not hesitate to hold back on how he felt and what happened. One thing that's for sure, I'm going to relive that painful memory when Zeus left.
Zeus parked his car as we went up to his condo. He still hasn't said anything to me. He slowly opened the door and let me in first. He flicked on the light as I heard the door shut. I quickly turned around and Zeus was right in front of me. His steel-blue eyes darkened with guilt. "I want to know what happened after graduation. Did he really take you to my house for you can say bye to me?" his voice was filled with pain.
My heart broke just thinking of that day. We graduated and I knew he was going to leave a couple of days after graduation. I didn't know when but I took my chances and went two days after graduation. If I would've taken a couple of minutes later. I would've missed him.
He picked up my chin as a tear came down my cheek. I swallowed the knot that was stuck in my throat. "Yes, he took me but I still missed you. It was the hardest heartbreak I had to witness."

*SENIOR YEAR, TWO DAYS AFTER GRADUATION*
I bit my nails and paced back and forth in my room. Rhett was playing his guitar by the window. My heart was telling me to go to Zeus's house and at least say bye to him. But that wasn't going to change the fact that he's leaving for good. My heart shattered just thinking about not having him in my life anymore or at least seeing him from far away.
He nodded at me during the graduation ceremony but of course, his mother and Madeleine got in the way. They rushed him out of the ceremony and I haven't seen him since then. I cried to Rhett who was an angel sent to me. He had so much patience and practically lived in my house. My parents didn't mind, he kept me company.
I walked past my drawer and saw our picture of us on the beach. I picked up the frame and that's when my eyes filled with tears. I love you, Zeus.
"I can take you to say goodbye," I heard Rhett's voice from behind my shoulder. I put down the frame and wiped my tears.
"What's the use, he's going to leave anyway. Nothing will change that," I walked towards my window.
"But at least you won't live with that pain of not ever saying goodbye."
I glanced at Rhett's crystal blue eyes. He had his hands in his pockets, while his wavy blonde hair went down his face. "I'll drive," he walked out.
I quickly put on my hoodie and told my parents I was going to go eat with Rhett. I quickly got into Rhett's mustang as he pressed on the gas. We got to Zeus's house in a heartbeat. Rhett didn't hesitate to drive through red lights.
We parked a couple of houses from Zeus's house but enough to get a view if anyone was home. I finally saw Zeus come out of his house with luggage followed by Madeleine. My heart tore slowly like paper. My lips trembled and my eyes filled with water again. He was leaving for good.
