His gaze softened while he gave me a faint smile. "Why didn't you call me?" he asked.
My eyes went to his dad who studied our interaction, the corner of his lips curved. "Excuse my son, he must be excited to have seen his friend," his dad stretched his arm towards my dad. "Felix Storm, pleasure," he wore a fancy suit. His hair was peppered with gray and black, he had the same steel blue eyes as Zeus and looked quite younger than his mom.
"Andrew Knight and this is my wife, Sandra Knight," they introduced themselves and talked on the side. Zeus's dad was much friendlier than his mom, he laughed and didn't judge my parents. My eyes went to Zeus who was waiting for an answer from me.
"I did call your cellphone but your mom answered," his lips tightened and his jaw clenched. I think he knew the answer already.
"Yeah I left my phone at home but I did wait for your call but I figured you were busy. My dad picked me up from my singing sessions and we came to pick up some pizza," his eyes softened again and he smirked at me.
"I just didn't know what time to call so I called a little later. I need to get a prepaid phone," I joked but it was true, everyone had a cellphone except me, maybe I should ask my parents again.
"I'll ask my dad if he can get you a prepaid phone. I don't think he'll mind," he said excitedly.
My cheeks burned and my palms got sweaty. "No, you've done enough," I chuckled. "I got you a gift but it's at my house," I changed the subject.
"Really?" his eyes widen.
"Would you like to come over?" I asked.
"It's kind of late but I'll ask my dad," he glanced at his dad who was enjoying talking to my parents.
"Dad, can I go over to Beau's house, just for a bit, please?" he almost begged, he looked so handsome.
"You know you can go but you have to ask Beau's parents first," he was so nice.
"Of course you can come over, son. It's a Saturday night so we let Beau stay up a while longer," my dad said cheerfully.
"And don't worry about your mother. I'll handle her," his dad said while he carried a box of pizza. "I'll pick you up around 10 pm."
His dad said goodbye and my parents bought two large pepperoni pizzas. We went back home. I was so happy he was coming over. My body was alive, all my veins jolted with excitement. He sat close to me in the back of the truck, his fingers accidentally grazed mine but he kept his focus outside the window towards the night sky. He glanced at me and simply smiled, which made my heart thump loudly in my chest.
We finally got home and went directly to the small dining area. Zeus's glanced around and smirked. "Your house is so cozy and welcoming," he told my mom.
"Thank you, dear. Our house is open to any friends of Beau," her brown eyes smiled at Zeus. My mom likes him. I could see the dancing lights in her eyes.
