Her body fell in front of me. I didn't see any sign of movement from her but I heard my dad's voice. "Son!" He ran towards me and untied the cloth from my mouth. I slowly relaxed my jaw from being held open so long. My leg was on fire and the pain was excruciating but all I wanted was to see if Zeus was alive and well. Detective Hampton came and cut the ties from my wrist and my ankle.
"My leg hurts," my dad helped me sit up and that's when I saw Zeus's body on the floor. He was bleeding from the side as his lips were purple. He wasn't moving. I tried to get up but my leg wouldn't let me. "Help him, not me!" I yelled as tears came down my cheek. Suddenly my body went numb and I collapsed on the floor. Everything went pitch black.

I heard a pleasant voice in my head. It hypnotized me and numb the pain that coursed through my veins. It was Zeus singing and all I could do is smile. All I saw were white tiny orbs that floated in the air. His voice was like an echo, it soothed my soul. Where was I? All I saw was white. I heard a beeping sound from afar, someone squeezed my hand. "Beau, son, come back to me," I heard a soft echo and that's when I slowly opened my eyes. My eyes were heavy as I saw a dim-lit room. I heard a beeping monitor and I felt a strong hand grip on my hand.
"Beau, son. You're back," I slowly moved my neck as my dad had a faint smile on his lips. His eyes were watery and tired. He had deep black circles underneath his eyes and his hair was not neatly combed like it usually is.
"Dad," my voice was raspy and dry. "Where is Zeus?"
"Son," his voice stuttered and that's when my whole body woke up but then a sharp pain came from my leg. "Ahh."
"Take it easy."
"Dad, where is Zeus?" I demanded this time. I glanced at him and then he turned to the bed next to mine. Zeus had gauze on his forehead and his midsection was covered in a cast. My eyes got watery when I saw his body was just laying there. No movement just a beeping sound from the monitor.
"His body went into shock. He got shot on his right side. The bullet fractured three of his ribs but no organs were damaged. You've been out for a day and a half. He hasn't even blinked or moved. He's alive but lost in his body."
I couldn't help but let my tears flow down my cheeks. "I need to touch him, he needs me," I sat up and took the white blanket off me but then I saw my leg was wrapped with a sturdy cloth. It wasn't a cast but it was tough enough to hold my leg down.
"Beau, your lucky you have a leg. The bullet grazed your right leg and damaged some nerves but you'll need some weeks to recover," my dad put the cover over me again. He gently pushed my chest down and raked my hair back. "I thought I lost you when I saw your body on the floor," a tear went down his cheek.
