summary: still being the 'baby' of the family, Finn finds a way to prove himself as a Peaky Blinder

***

Even at age of eighteen, Finn was still the 'baby' of the family, and he hated it. All he wanted to do his whole life was be like his brothers, a Peaky Blinder. At 18, John, Arthur and Tommy were already in the family business.

All he did during the days was train at the boxing ring with Isiah. Recently, the two boys had found themselves at an underground fight club which probably wasn't legal at all, but that didn't stop half the population of Small Heath attending.

Word was that a group of siblings ran the club. Collecting the earning, running the ring, making sure the coppers didn't get a word about it.

"You're going to break your thumb if you punch like that." Y/n commented when she walked into the club. All the rings were set up in the corner were two Peaky Blinders. Y/n had heard of them when she and her brothers arrived in town.

Y/n slid into the ring, coming next to the boy to fix his position. "Place it on the outside." She grabbed his hands with hers and fixed it. "Now try again."

The boy did what she said and threw another punch, one much stronger than he did before.

"Thanks." He muttered. "Finn Shelby."

"Y/n L/n." She smiled. "If you ever need anymore help call me. If you don't need anymore help, you can still call me." She ripped a piece of paper and gave him her number.

"I'll see you Mr. Shelby." She smiled and exited the ring and made her way towards her brothers.

"Finn mate." Isiah shook his shoulder bringing him back to attention. "You alright there."

"A girl gave me her number." He said in astonishment. "A pretty girl gave me her number."

That night, Finn snuck down to the living room of Polly's house and took her phone to call Y/n. It had became daily occurrences. The nightly calls, seeing each other at the boxing rings.

"Where did you learn to fight?" Finn asked one day.

"I have three older brothers, if I didn't learn how to fight back, I would be six feet under." Y/n laughed.

"I have three older brothers too." Finn replied. "But they really don't include in family business, so I never really got to learn that type of stuff."

"Why don't I teach you." Y/n proposed.

"Oh, you don't need to do that." Finn shook his head.

"I want too." Y/n reassured. "And I like hanging out with you."

Keeping to her word, the next day Y/n told Finn to meet her by the cut.

"Finny boy, where are you going?" John asked.

"Out." He said simply and left before more questions could be asked.

"Do you know to shoot a gun?" That was first thing Y/n asked Finn when he met her.

"Yes." Finn answered.

"Great, we're going to do target practice." Y/n smiled, grabbing a gun out of her bag and handing it to Finn and grabbing her own out of her holster. Finn's eyes widened when she took out her safety. He didn't know many women who carried guns on them.

"First, you see that red 'x'." Y/n pointed at it. "I want you to shoot it."

Finn complied. He brought the gun up to line up the target, but before he could pull the trigger, he felt her gun click on his temple.
