t was an awkward week for everyone. With Kai gone, you had nothing to do besides wonder around town like a lost soul. It wasn't that you were lost without him, you just had nothing to do now that you weren't making sure he was on his best behavior. And since he left for Portland you were now 'free of worry' for the time, as he so preciously put it. He claimed to have some 'family business' to attend to. It was concerning, but you didn't question it too much.
All you've done since he left was school and work, and whatever crazy activities being friends with the Salvatores had you participate in.
Basically... you were bored out of your goddamned mind.
Besides the nightly phone calls and Kai telling you that he only had a few days left on his trip, but he always ended up staying for longer than a few days. Past all the sappy 'I miss you's' and him rolling his eyes, you finally got him to admit how much he misses you as well. He wasn't, however, going to tell you how bored he was when he wasn't getting on your nerves. Trying to tie up some old knots in Portland had him bored and annoyed, and ready to come back home to you.
"Say it again." You spoke, a pep in your step as you grew closer to your destination.
"I'm not saying it again." Kai spoke through the phone, rolling his eyes as he took in the fresh air from the park he grew up going to. He ignored the weird stares he was receiving from the parents accompanying their child to the playground, focusing only on a specific sandbox he used to spend hours in trying to practice his magic when no one was paying attention to him.
"Come on, just humor me." You let out a dramatic groan.
"Geez, you are SO needy." He grumbled out putting a soft smile on your face. "Like, I take time out of my day and all you want to hear is-"
"How much you miss me, yeah yeah, I know. How hard it must be to have a girlfriend." You rolled your own eyes. He held his own soft smile, imaging how your eyes would roll as you spoke in such a sarcastic tone.
"You do realize I haven't been gone for that long right?" Too long for comfort.
"Yeah you have, and it doesn't help when your sending selfie's of you around your home town. I miss you." You responded truthfully. "And I know your probably having so much fun without me." You sigh loudly, making his eyes roll.
"Not this-"
"You're probably hanging out with your high school sweetheart, eating her kids fruit snacks while they're at school while you drink her grocery store quality red wine forgetting allllll about me." You spoke dramatically, completely kidding of course but you wouldn't be surprised if he did try to pull something like that.
"That was oddly specific." He commented and you shrugged even though he couldn't see you.
"You're a predictable guy."
"Oh really?" He scoffed. "It's not like you're the most unpredictable girl in the world either."
"Then what am I doing right now?" You asked, a smile growing as you saw your destination right up ahead.
"Well it's only 1 so right now you are about to going eat those cookies I hid from you in the kitchen with the iced coffee that you probably didn't finish because you got too big of a size." He commented knowing your daily schedule by heart.
"Uhm... wrong." You shook your head.
"Then what are you doing?"
"Wondering why you just won't admit that you miss me." You answered in a bland tone.
He rolled his eyes, scanning the area in front of him as he sucked in a deep breath.
"Because that would be me giving you what you want." He answered. "And you are already so spoiled."
