God, that face. Even just barely awake she's perfect. I've been thinking about our future together. Especially since her and Zaks divorce was final.

We talked throughout my three week leave about anything and everything. I couldn't wait to get home, go to the doctor with her and see my child for the very first time.

We'd be finding out the gender of our baby and this was one appointment I would never miss. Since we'd been private about being together, we made the decision to only let Evelyn go to the appointments until we were further along with the pregnancy.

The three week trip was a quick one it seemed. I felt like it was a time warp.

We left early in the morning and I spent the majority in my bunk on FaceTime with Ev.

"We are headed home, sweetheart." I told her with a smile.

"Oh good, I've missed you. I think someone else does too." She said.

"Let me see you..."

"I feel like the baby has grown a lot since you left, I feel huge for not being half way."

"You can't be that big, babe. You weren't when I left."

"No seriously look." She flipped the camera and I saw all of her standing in the mirror.

"Baby has definitely grown, Ev. I can't wait to see you tonight And see our little sprinkle for the first time tomorrow." I said smiling.

"We are gonna have to spill the beans soon. Especially since I am getting so big. I only have so much fluffy clothes."

"God I just can't wait to see you! I'm dying to see you." I said.

It was true. I went from having a woman in my bed every night for almost 5 months and then I sleep alone on investigations for three weeks.

Zak's Mom was taking the kids for the week because Zak was home now which meant we were alone. I got to my place, showered and waited for Evelyn to get there.

It was 20 minutes later when the doorbell rang. I quickly sprint to the door excited to see her. I could see her shadow through the glass but couldn't wait to hold her in my arms.

I opened the door and pulled her inside. I kissed her a million times and spun her around. I held her close to me taking in how much I missed her. I kissed her again.

"Well hello to you too." She said blushing.

"You look so beautiful and I've missed your presence while I was gone."

She smiled and took her coat off.

"Whoa. You weren't lying when you said the baby has grown." I said looking at her belly.

"Gee thanks. That makes me feel so great." She said in a moody tone.

We walked to the couch and sat down.

"No I mean, this is all real and actually happening. There's a little human being growing inside of you. We did that." I said as I put my arm around her.

"Yep. Definitely a human."

"Any movement yet?" I ask excitedly.

"There's been some flutters but no movements."

"We'll see then." I said sticking my large palm on her stomach. "Can the baby hear me?"

Evelyn nodded.

"Hello? Is anyone there? It's me, Daddy. If anyone's there, please show us." I crouch down to her belly.

Evelyn laughed. "Jay, you're not on an investigation. You can talk like a normal person."

"Oh, right. Ummm...hey little peanut, it's Daddy. I know you can't hear me super well right now but I'm set on you recognizing my voice after you're born. Mine and Mommy's. We will just be talking away to you between now and your birth. Tomorrow we find out what exactly you are and maybe then, you'll get a name. No more sprinkle or peanut." I said smiling and feeling around.

Evelyn had her hand on her belly as well.

"You talk." I told her.

"Hi my love, it's Mommy. I'm the one who has been and will be your home for the next few months. I'll keep you safe, warm and cared for both inside and out. I am so excited to meet you. You have 4 amazing siblings who don't know about you yet but will love you all the same. You have two Angel siblings but I'm sure you've already met. I can't wait to see you with Daddy tomorrow and learn what you are. You'll be born into such a good family. Your Daddy saved me and made me fall in love again and then we made you by surprise. You are so loved and so wanted already that I can't imagine what it will be like when you are in our arms. I love you so much. WE love you so much. I can't wait to see who you become." Ev said crying. She gently rubbed her belly and kissed her hand to place on it.
