{Evelyn's POV}
It had been a long few days. I was so excited to get back to my bed with my husband and know I didn't have to get up with Emery in the middle of the night tonight.

I lay in bed, softly petting Gracie's head and listening to the silence except for Zak's breathing.

I finally was almost asleep when Zak started kicking and thrashing.

"No...no...help! No! Stop!" He screamed while still completely unconscious.

I was startled awake and turned the lamp on.

"Z! Z Baby! Hey! HEY! Wake up!" I said.

I reached over and put my hand on his cheek.

His eyes shot open and he looked at me with so much more fear than I'd ever seen him have.

"Hey. Baby. Hey. You're okay. I'm here. Shhh...I'm here lover." I said.

His breathing finally settled to a relaxed natural pace. His hand met mine on his face.

I laid back down on my back.

"Come here Zak." I motioned for my chest.

He scoot over to lay on my chest. His ear pressed against my right breast.

"I can hear you heart, Ev. It's soothing." He said quietly.

"I use this trick with our babies too. I read that their Mother's heartbeat is the most calming sound in the world to them. They listened to it from the inside for 9 months, why wouldn't it relax them?"

He pressed his head closer to my chest. "Mmm...I like this, Ev."

I pulled him closer to me in a hug.

"Z? I can't begin to understand what happened on your lockdown but I can promise that you won't have to heal and cleanse and fight alone. When I said I do, I meant I too would fight demons with you. For better, for worse. Sickness & health. Possessed or pure." I kissed his shaggy damp hair and snuggled close to him.

Finally, my husband, the ghost hunting, museum owning, baby making machine he is, was sleeping.

Peacefully.

At last.
