Well Wishes

(Jay)

I wondered who was more anxious to see my parents. Me or my girlfriend. We roll up to their home and turn off the car. I get out and come around to open Evelyn's door.

"You ready?"

"I think so."

"Are you ready Dallas?"

I feel a nudge on my hand as a yes.

We walk up to the giant doors and ring the bell. My parents are like me. Very private and secluded but insanely thoughtful. Their house was among insane amounts of greenery and if you didn't know what to look for, you'd miss it.

Soon the door opens and there they are. My beautiful Mother and my dad. Rebecca & Andrew Wasley.

"Jay! Hello! We didn't know you were coming?! We just made dinner and there's more than enough for the four of us." My Mom hugs me.

"Hello Miss Evelyn! Please come and sit down to eat." She tell us.

We are eating a yummy chicken Alfredo and it's as if Evelyn has always been in the family. My parents don't know we are dating or expecting a baby. They just know that Evelyn has been one of my best friends since she came into the GAC life.

"So Evelyn. How are you? Honestly. How are the kids with the divorce and everything? Are you guys okay? Do you need anything?" My Dad asks.

"I've been doing so good. The kids struggle a little bit but they see him and his Mom pretty frequently when he's home. Jays been a big help. He's been such a good guy and the kids always have loved him." She said with a smile.

"Oh my sweet Jay. Always so helpful and always there for your friends. You are going to be an amazing spouse and father someday." My mom says clasping my hand.

I clear my throat and Evelyn slightly moved her chair and jacket.

"Well Mom & Dad, that's actually what we are here to talk to you about...Evelyn & I are together. And she's pregnant with my baby." I said standing up and pulling Ev up.

"Oh my goodness!" My mom starts to cry.

"No way. No freaking way. That's amazing." My Dad says.

"How far along? When are you due? When did you two start dating? Do you know what you're having? Do you have a name picked out?" Rebecca said hugging Evelyn.

"I'm almost 17 weeks. I'm due around March 12th. We started dating shortly after Zak announced our divorce. Falling in love with each other was kind of an accident, Jays just always been there for me and we kissed one night and it led to more and we ended up pregnant the first time. We wouldn't have it any other way though. We are so excited and grateful to meet our son. His name will be Dallas Jay Wasley. His Daddy picked it all out the moment we knew he was a boy." Evelyn said stroking her belly.

"Well congratulations son. You did it. Passing on the Wasley name. I can't wait to meet our grandson!" My Dad said.

The rest of the night was spent making plans for the baby shower and all of that.

"What do your parents think Ev? About you and Jay and Dallas?" My mom asked.

"They love Jay, they always have. You know my Mom, so excited to add to the grandkids. We had to tell them pretty quickly because I live with them and it was just in case something happened, there wasn't anything they didn't know."

We FaceTimed my entire family to share the news. There was laughter and tears and a million well wishes.
