"I'm so sorry, hun. The Dr confirmed that she's lost the baby." My Mom said over the phone.

"Uhh....I..um...how is she?" I managed to choke out.

"She's hurting. She's dying inside. She doesn't want me to know but I know. She's just lying in bed and letting it all pass. She's hollowed out, she doesn't look like your Evelyn." She assured me.

"Stay there, okay? I'll be on my way home." I ordered.

I hung up the phone and crumbled to the floor.

"Hey bro, you good?" Aaron asked.

I buried my head in my hands and sobbed.

"Evelyn's miscarried. Our baby is gone. This baby we made is gone." I told him.

Aaron came over and sat beside me. He laid his head softly on my shoulder.

That small motion made me feel a little bit better for myself but I couldn't get the thought of Evelyn out of my mind. My sweet wife was home, suffering alone and called my Mom for help only when she was desperate.

Who knows what went wrong with our baby. It wasn't anyone's fault but I still felt guilty for leaving Evelyn to hurt by herself.

"Z?" I heard Billy & Jay approaching.

Aaron stood up and pulled the guys away to explain. They returned a few minutes later.

"Hey Man, go home. Go be with your wife. She needs  you." Jay said.

"Are you sure? What about the lockdown?" I asked with tears in my eyes.

"We got it. Go home." They assured me.
