Today is New Year's Eve and Tom and I just finished packing for our little trip, we are going to catch a flight the morning of the 2nd on January right after Leah's. She arrived earlier today, the kids were so thrilled to see her after a long time and she and Tom had a nice chat.
"Knock knock" Leah says blind king on Tom's bedroom door "Come in!" I say She opens the door and as I look up I notice she has her eyes closed "Do you think I would have told you to come in if we weren't for to be seen?" "Eh...people are strange" "Oh shut up" I say laughing "Darling, don't forget to pack your bikini" Tom says "Right!" I go over to the dresser and pick my red and teal bikinis "I'll let you girls talk" he says closing the door "Good god you are one lucky woman!" Leah says "You say that every time we talk in the phone" "Ugh...I know!" "Oh I still haven't told you...we are moving in with Tom after our vacation" "Really? That's awesome!" "Yep! He said he wants to talk with the kids and let them choose the theme and stuff for their rooms" "Aww, cute!" "He truly is the best!" "Mommy!" Alex shouts from downstairs "daddy says dinner is almost ready!" "Coming!" "I'm starving!" Leah says
During the dinner Leah, the kids and I share some of our stories with Tom and he spenta the meal laughing. "Tom, this was delicious!" "Thank you Leah" he says standing up and bringing the empty dishes with him in the kitchen.
We then sit on the couches and play monopoly, waiting for midnight. "Ah! You have to pay me 5$!" Alex says to his sister "Ugh..." I laugh at their interaction and look Tom who is so focused on the game, more than the kids "Babe, your turn" I say to him He rolls the dice, 3 "Oh yes!" He says when he lands with his pawn on the lottery, getting 10$ for himself. After ten minutes Alex, Leah and I loose all of our money, so it's just Ellie and Tom. "Roll your dice, darling" he says to her She rolls it and somehow manages to win the game "I win, I win!" "I think you cheated!" Tom says "No I did not, you are just a sore looser!" "I want a rematch" Tom says "Not now kids...look at the clock" They all look at the wall: 11:54 "I'll grab the wine to make the toast, you cover yourself up and go on the balcony, there are going to be fireworks!"
At 11:59 Tom's walks on the balcony at the second floor of his house, placing the corkscrew on the bottle cork "Ready?" He says "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Happy New Year!" We say all together The kids hug with Leah and Tom and I share a sweet kiss "Happy new year my love!" He says "Happy new year" I whisper into his ear and kiss his cheek before letting him go As I hug Leah the kids share one with Tom. "Happy new year dad!" Ellie says "Happy new year my lovely kids" Beautiful fireworks are exploding in the dark midnight sky. "Daddy look at that, it's giant!" "It is Alex, come here" Tom says picking him up and positioning him on his shoulders "hold tight on my hands" "Yeah" Ellie sits on my lap looking up and Leah leans her head on my shoulder. Ten minutes after we go back inside and put the kids to bed. The three of us clean the kitchen and living room, then Leah goes to her room saying goodnight. At almost 2 am Tom and I slide under the beds covers "Chilly" I say "Come here" he says pulling me against his chest and nuzzling his head in my neck "Now it's warmer" "Mhm" "Night baby, love you!" I say turning my head to meet his lips "Night, love you too darling" he says Sleeps takes over us soon and we are sent in dreamland.
