*Charlotte pov* Today, April 2, Ellie turns 13 which means she's officially a teenager! We are going to have a little party with the family and she is doing one with friends on the weekend. Diana, Sarah and Emma are coming of course, Benedict is coming also. "Mom, can I go wake up Ellie?" Alex asks "You can go, yes but be gentle. Then tell her to come downstairs" As soon as I finish he is already up the stairs... Tom is cutting strawberries and I'm making waffles, her favorite. "She's so big!" I say and Tom turns to me "Aw babe, are you feeling nostalgic?" He says hugging me "Mmm...a bit" "Well she's still going to be your little girl, at least until we have another one..." he says continuing cutting the fruit "Tom!" I say swatting his arm "What? Can't a guy dream?" "You want a daughter?" "I'd like to, I mean if you are ever going to want other children" "I just realized we've actually never talked about this. I do, I do want more children" "Good, me too"
"Here comes the birthday girl!" Alex announces "Morning!" She says I hug her tight to my body and kiss her head "Morning, happy birthday!" I say I release her from the hug so that Tom can hug her too and wish her a happy birthday "Thanks! Mmm...I smell my favorite breakfast!" "Indeed...come sit" Tom says We all dig in and then I send the kids to change because after all it's still a school day. Tom drove them to school as I ran some errands and then come back home to fix the presents and wait for our guests.
At 12.30 all the people arrive and help me set the last few things before Tom and the kids come home. "We're home!" Ellie says taking off her shoes "Happy birthday!!!" We all say "Thank you!" She says hugging one by one the guests
We have a good lunch and talk about the day and tell some stories from when she was little. At three o'clock it's time for the cake "Remember, make a wish darling!" Tom says She waits a few seconds then blows all the thirteen candles. We take them out and cut the cake, serving it to everyone. "Do you want to open the gifts?" I ask "Yep! Alex do you want to help me?" Alex nods and they sit on the floor while us adults on the couches. She opens Diana's first who bought her the watch she wanted for so long, then it's Sarah and Emma's turn: a beautiful denim dress and a shirt with her favorite flowers in it. Benedict got her a t-shirt signed by all the Sherlock actors and actresses, since she loves the series. "Thanks Ben!" "I asked to the director if I could bring you on set one day and he said absolutely!" "Yay!!! This is so exciting!" She says hugging Benedict. She then opens the card that Alex made for her: it's a cute drawing of the two of them and he wrote 'to the best big sister in the world, I love you so much happy birthday!'. Ellie hugs her little brother and once done Tom and I hand her our gift. "No way!" "You like it?" "Yes but you didn't have to" "Now that you are a teen you can have a bit more freedom" Tom says "But, we still get to check the phone and you will use it to text calls and to play. You can get an Instagram but it will be supervised by us" I say "Got it! Thank you!!!" She says and bring us in a gigantic hug
When the guests are gone she turns the phone on and Tom helps her to set it up and get an Instagram. I'm happy to see her so happy and have a great day on her birthday. Even though she's a teen, she still asked Tom and I to tuck her in bed.
