On a good day, the last thing Derek wanted to do was go to his therapy sessions. They were all kinds of hell, they hurt like a bitch and he always ended up feeling useless at times. But Aaron and him got along and he made the time pass a little easier than it did otherwise. But today he wasn't in the mood for chatting.
Last night with Maggie had been...it had been a good night. They had cuddled, watched the movie, did a little bit of making out, and then she had fallen asleep in his arms. It had been a good night. Except for the fact that Derek couldn't stop thinking about Meredith and Aaron. He was guessing he was jealous, but that didn't explain the disgust he felt with his PT right now.
Aaron was a really good guy. He wasn't exciting or anything but he was a great guy and if any of his sisters had brought a guy like him home, Derek probably would have been okay with it. But something about all of this didn't sit right and he knew it was more than the fact they got to go out and have a good time. He just wasn't sure what it was, but right now, he didn't want to think about it anymore. He didn't want to do anything but get through his therapy session and then go back to his room. Meredith would come by later, they would be able to talk again, and maybe things would feel better.
She usually had a way of settling him down. Derek was starting to think it was something to do with how she saw the world and how much she didn't seem to put up with any bullshit. If he was still feeling grumpy when she came by, he knew she'd call him on it. But that was hours from now and he knew Maggie was in a meeting with the occupational therapist about how things would change once he was discharged, which meant he needed to get through his session. Going home would mean a lot of things would change and he was desperate for that. Even if the idea of not seeing Meredith every day made his stomach tighten.
He would come and visit. They were friends and besides Maggie's brief worry last night, she seemed overall comfortable with their friendship so he could come visit. And once he got over the wierd feeling of Meredith and Aaron together, the four of them could do double dates. Maggie would like that.
"Derek," Aaron sighed as he came around the back of his wheelchair. "I need you to focus."
"I am," Derek groaned.
"No, you're not."
"Yeah, I am."
"What was the last thing I asked you to do?"
"I..."
"Exactly. Let's get some focus in here."
"Okay, fine."
"So lift the ball above your head ten times, but stop if you feel any pain in your back."\
"Okay, okay," Derek groaned.
"Or we could wait until your attitude improves," Aaron shrugged. "We can sit here all day if you want."
"My attitude is just fine," Derek snapped.
"All day," Aaron sat down in a chair. "You just decide when you want to cool it."
"Well I don't want to sit here all day."
"And you think I do?"
"No, probably not."
"So how about you drop the shit face and give me some of that Rocky power."
"Rockey power?" Derek raised an eyebrow.
"If you tell me you haven't seen the Rocky movies...."
"Of course I have."
"Thank god for that. Mer had never seen them, so I had to dig mine out for tonight."
"Tonight?" Derek frowned.
