A Random Iida Headcannon

A little bit of a sad headcannon, but hey, my thoughts are now everyone else's problems.

I headcannon that this boy never says goodbye. He absolutely hates goodbyes, he thinks they're sad. When Iida does say goodbye, he only says it to someone he'll never see again or won't see for a long time. (Like if his brother were to leave overseas for a mission/business thing, then he'd say goodbye.)

So he substitutes with saying, "Until next time," or "Until the next time we meet." People always thought he was trying to be sweet or poetic, but the truth is- he said goodbye to his bother the day he got attacked by Stain. From that point forward, Iida's never said goodbye to someone he knows he's going to see later. If Iida knows he's going to be meeting up with you again in the near future, he'll tell you, "Until next time," because he can't bring himself to say 'bye' to someone he knows for sure he'll see again soon.
