Chapter 23

Age: [17 years old] [Y/N] [L/N] POV

Waking up was a pain in the butt for me.

The moment my eyes opened, I was met with a sudden bright light, as I immediately sat up.

The sudden light might have been because I was in the dark for far too long.

Though suddenly sitting up only made my head ache worse.

Come to think about it, what happened before I even passed out...

All I remember is trying to find a way out, opening shoji doors and...

Being carried on the shoulder by a rainbow-eyed demon with flayed golden-colored hair.

"Hey" I heard someone whisper, mumble? Now, perhaps a grumble.

But it was inaudible to me as I continued to stare at something blurry

"Hey!" It repeated.

Though, this time, it seemed a little more clear...

"Look at me when i'm talking you brat!" Someone exclaimed, from right beside me.

Slowly looking towards the right, I was immediately met with a finger, right in front of my face, aimed towards my eyes as I looked cross-eyed at it.

Looking straight forward, my blurry vision cleared and the sight of two human-like figures stood before me.

One who had very exposing clothing and another who had pale skin and was standing by the sidelines.

The one confronting me is the demoness, i now noticed, who had a scowl on her face as she then lowered her arm down to her sides.

Raising and placing her hand on her hips, she spoke again, voice laced with an intent to threaten.

"Listen here, peasant, despite being ordered by Upper Moon One and him to take care of you, doesn't mean we get to be all goody-goody two shoes with you alright?!" she said, raising her voice with each passing word as she backed off to the side with the other.

Processing the information a bit, I turned to them and tilted my head in confusion at what they'd said.

"Kokushibo-san has servants he can order around?" I asked, before the female demon scowled even more, the male demon beside her putting up a frown.

"You must have had a good life living up there in the human world under the sun huh?!" the female one said, ferociously snarling, suddenly growing something from behind her back.

"I'm jealous, man. Living such a comfortable life up there. Wonder what your flesh feels likes once i've sliced it to pieces" the other had finally spoken, as he began to scratch at his arms.

It's pretty obvious that it was aimed towards me, but I spoke before even being able to notice the move.

"Good and comfortable life? Perhaps you've mistaken me as one of those villagers who hunts down those who are different from them" I said, looking towards what seems to be a sash, being aimed straight towards me.

And a sickle being shown from behind.

Before it soon stopped, right in front of my forehead as it stiffly hovered over it as my eyes widened in shock.

'That's too close!' I panicked silently in thought, knowing I would've died the moment it shot right through my head.

Hearing a scoff from behind the female demon, I looked towards them and saw the male one speak up with a gruff voice.
