The following afternoon, Darrel, Sebastian, JF, Camila and David decided to head into Ripon. Robert was in the middle of enjoying some alone time in the library when the door opened, and Thomas stepped in.

"The Duke of Dulverton is here to see you, m'lord," he bowed.

"Dulverton?" Robert repeated.

"Yes, m'lord. He says that it is important."

"Very well, bring him in."

"Yes, m'lord."

Thomas bowed and then left the room. Robert set the newspaper aside and got to his feet. He was not sure what Dulverton wanted with him. While he had not spoken to the duke on his own before, he had not heard good things about him from the others. Thomas reentered the library with Perseus Chadwick, bowed to the men, and left.

"Good afternoon, Lord Grantham," Chadwick bowed (despite not needing to since he was of higher rank).

"Duke of Dulverton," Robert nodded. "Hello."

"I am sorry for dropping by like this."

"That seems to be your habit when it comes to your visits to Downton."

"Well, I do apologize, m'lord. However, I felt this was an important matter I needed to bring to your attention."

"Very well, please, sit."

Chadwick gave Robert a grateful smile and sat down on a sofa, and Lord Grantham resumed his seat.

"I am concerned about Princess Elizabeth," Chadwick informed.

"Why is that?" Robert inquired.

"I do not think Mr Carlos is the right man for her. I have reason to believe that he is not treating her properly and that if she marries him, Her Highness may regret it for the rest of her life."

Robert looked at the Duke of Dulverton curiously. He did not trust Sebastian either, although he did not understand why Dulverton felt the need to travel to Downton Abbey to tell him so.

"I admit that Sebastian may have made some mistakes," Robert sighed. "However, I can see he loves Darrel, and they seem to be a happy couple."

"I did not want to go into further details, as I did not want to upset you, but you deserve to know the details," Chadwick shrugged. "Sebastian has not been very responsible or considerate of Her Highness' feelings. He goes out drinking every single night, which causes her to be sick with worry."

"I know about his habits...although I am surprised that you are aware of this information."

"I am a close friend of the Royal Family."
