The next morning, Perseus awoke, got dressed and headed for breakfast. As he passed the Royal Bodyguards in the hallway, he heard them in the middle of a heated argument. The duke pressed himself against the wall behind the corner so he could listen in.

"You're her Head Guard!" Sidney hissed.

"Yes, which means that if I want you to do something, you need to do it," Allen snapped.

"He's right," Benjamin shrugged. "We are all responsible for Her Highness' safety."

"Since when do you agree with Allen?" Sidney demanded.

Benjamin rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Their Majesties don't need to know what happened," Benjamin informed.

"Are you mad?" Allen exclaimed, then lowered his voice. "We don't know when Her Highness can return to London. At some point, we have to explain..."

"So let us explain once she recovers. There's no reason to worry them and risk our posts."

"You might have a point. Very well, we'll try it your way. But if it backfires, it's your fault."

Benjamin nodded while Sidney stayed out of it. He wanted to tell Their Majesties what happened. But he knew that he could not convince them otherwise, especially since they were on the same page for once.

"I'm going to lie down for a few hours," Allen informed. "Sidney, will you stay with Her Highness?"

"Yes," Sidney nodded.

"Thank you."

Allen headed towards the servants' stairwell and walked up towards his room.

"Since when do you agree with Allen?" Sidney repeated.

"For once in his life, he's right," Benjamin shrugged.

"But you love getting him into trouble. And while we are her guards, Allen's in charge."

"This was not his fault, none of us could have prevented it."

"But Her Highness' saddle was loose. As her former Head Guard; you know it is Allen's duty to ensure it was secure."

"It was an honest mistake. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to get some breakfast."

Before Sidney could respond, Benjamin headed into the servants' stairwell.

Sensing that it was safe to come out, Perseus emerged from his hiding and walked up to Sidney.

"Good morning, Your Grace," the guard bowed.
