First day.
"I can't help but feel like I caused this," you say as you cry, kneeling next to Draco's bed.
You text Fred "I'm gonna be here a while. You can go home."
You stay by Draco's bed for hours. The doctors come and go. At around 10:00 pm, the same nurse named Ashley comes in. "Honey, why don't you come back in the morning."
"But what if he wakes up... or the opposite of that?"
"If anything changes, we'll call you straight away."
You hesitate, but say "okay, then I guess I'll see you in the morning." You then walk over to Draco, gently moving some hair out of his face. You kiss his forehead and whisper "I love you."
You step towards the door, taking one last look at your soulmate. He'll be awake in the morning, you reassure yourself.
Second day.
You come back in the morning, convinced that Draco would be awake. Today's the last day of summer, so everyone will be going back to Hogwarts tomorrow.
When you walk in the room, your heart drops when you see him just how he was when you left him. "DAMMIT!" you exclaim, slamming your fists on the wall. You slide your back down the wall so you're sitting on the floor with your knees against your chest. Crying. Sobbing. Shaking. And Draco isn't here to comfort you. "Please wake up. I need you."
You stay with him for hours, just like yesterday. You go from kneeling next to his bed, to pulling over a stool, or sitting on the armchair in the corner. You occasionally sit on his bed and run your fingers through his hair, or hold his hand, but you respect him, so you don't kiss him on the lips or call him 'baby'; "don't call me that" was one of the last things he said to you.
Hermione took you to lunch in hopes of bringing your mood up, but it didn't change anything.
A couple hours later and it's officially been 24 hours since the crash.
Another couple hours later, Ashley comes in just like yesterday and suggests that you go home to get some rest.
"I don't want to leave."
She sighs, but says that you can stay. She brings you a blanket, so you can curl up on the armchair and get some rest. "Try to get some sleep, okay?"
You nod. "Thank you."
Third day.
Today, your friends are taking the Hogwarts Express back to Hogwarts, but you're not going. At least, today you're not. You have to stay with Draco.
Everyone came by to say goodbye this morning. You met them in the parking lot, because they couldn't come inside. Molly offered you to stay at The Burrow for as long as you need while you're staying back in case you need a place to sleep, someone to make you food, or just someone to talk to.
After they left, you go back inside and sit by Draco's bed. Ashley comes by at least once an hour to check in, but most of the time you're alone, having a lot of one way conversations with Draco. One time Ashley came in, you really needed to talk to someone, so she sat down with you and you told her everything. The whole story of how you got here, excluding the magic. She comforted you when you cried and told you it will all be okay. She's really like a therapist.
Fourth Day.
You woke up in the hospital again, curled up on the armchair in the corner. Draco still hasn't woken up, and it's sad to say that you're starting to lose hope. Will he be like this forever? Eventually I'll have to go back to school, right? I have to graduate.
Classes started today, and you're missing out on the start of term. You want to go back to Hogwarts, and you feel like you're going crazy staying in this hospital all day long, mostly alone.
You picked up some lunch and an iced coffee around 1:00 and went to sit in a park. It was nice getting out and getting some fresh air, but whenever you leave Draco, you can't stop worrying that something's going to happen while you're gone.
The day passes just like the rest of them, and you eventually fall asleep on the armchair in the corner.
Sometime in the middle of the night, you abruptly wake up from the sound of rustling sheets across the room. These past couple days you've been a light sleeper because of all the stress barely keeping you asleep. You wake up to all the smallest sounds.
Your heart skips a beat when you see Draco sitting up in his bed. You basically fall out of the chair to go over and hug him (not too tight, 'cause he might still be fragile). "I thought you were gonna die, I was so worried," you cry tears of joy.
"Y/n," he says. He's confused about where he is and everything, but still hasn't forgotten what you did to him. "Why are you here?"
"I love you, Draco. I can't live without you." You look at each other, tears shimmering in both your eyes.
"You broke me, y/n. I don't want to see you."
Him saying that broke you. "You don't know what happened." you pull away.
"You cheated on me, y/n."
"Let me explain!" You're so aggravated. You've waited days to talk to Draco again, and he doesn't even want to see you.
You take a seat on a stool next to his bed. "It was the night of the party," you start.
Draco rolls his eyes.
"That was three days ago for your information."
He looks surprised at that information.
"Yeah, you've been here since then... And I have too. Anyways, we were dancing and I bumped into Fred who gave me this extreme firewhiskey potion that would wear off in an hour-"
"Wait, he pressured you to take that?" You see a protective look in his eyes.
"No, I voluntarily took it. Then the next thing I remember was dancing, then I was kissing you..."
Draco look down at his hands. It might be the first time he noticed his arm was in a sling.
"I didn't sleep with him though. We woke up with clothes on, we only fell asleep... I swear I didn't mean to," you say. " I would never do that on purpose. I didn't mean to hurt you."
His eyes stay on his hands as he tries to hold back tears.
"Draco, look at me..." But he doesn't.
"I need some time to think about this," he says. "I think you should go."
