TW: PANIC ATTACK

•••

You and Draco take your time walking to the dungeons where the after party is being held. As soon as the crowd notices Draco, he gets swarmed by his fellow teammates and Slytherins. While they go all crazy and chant his name, you stand on the outside of the mob, against a wall. You smile as they praise your boyfriend and he gets to feel the adrenaline of winning his last game ever and the Hogwarts quidditch cup.

"They shouldn't have let you in here."

You look to your left and see Pansy Parkinson looking you up and down with disgust. "Draco's my boyfriend... you have no busine-"

She cuts you off. "So what? You should be back in your common room moping around with your fellow losers."

There's no point in arguing back. You just move to the other side of the room after giving her a look of disgust.

There's so much tension in the room, it makes you feel uneasy. Pansy's comment sticks in your mind and you can't get it out. Fellow losers... You feel your chest start to become heavy and your breathing gradually speeds up. You look at your shaking hands, then to Draco, who's having the time of his life with his teammates. You make eye contact with him before running out of the room.

You run into the empty hallway, and still hear the muffled music and chanting behind you. You slow your pace, as you walk with your hands pressing against your chest. You've never felt this before, but you have a feeling as to what it might be. You try to control your staggered breathing. The farther away from the party you get, the better you feel.

You stop waking and hold your hands out in front of you. They aren't shaking as bad as they were before. You put your hands behind your neck and look at your shoes as your breathing steadies.

You hear someone running down the corridor adjacent to yours so you keep waking in an attempt to avoid them if they turn a corner.

You look back and it's Draco. All worries seem to leave your body. He rushes to catch up to you as you stop in place. He holds your hands as if you're fragile. "Y/n, are you okay?" He looks into your eyes with concern.

"Yeah, I just don't- that was too much. I think I better stick to Gryffindor parties." Your reassuring smile makes him relax.

"Let me walk you back to your room" he says.

"No, you should get back in there! You're kind of the reason they're celebrating."

He embraces you in a warm hug and kisses your forehead. "I love you, y/n."

"I love you too. Now go have fun" you say before turning around to continue walking.
You can hear him running down the hall.

You go back to your room and take a shower. You passed the others all red-faced in the common room. You said hi, but didn't stick around that long.

It's become routine to cry in the shower. It's a good place to let all your emotions out. Sometimes you don't even know why you're crying. You just feel off.

Your anxiety is getting worse and it's been harder to control your emotions lately. Today you had your first panic attack. Hopefully it was the last one too. Just thinking about telling Draco makes you feel sick. What if he sees me differently? I don't want to burden him. But he did make me feel all better. As soon as he came and held my hands, I forgot about everything.
