Lacey POV
"Wakey wakey!" I heard someone say with a laugh. I mumbled in reply. "C'mon! Get your butt up!" They said, louder."Don't make me get you up." They threatened. "Why?" I mumbled before rolling over. "I'm giving you one last chance." I was half asleep at that point.
I heard ridiculously loud feedback of a guitar and jumped out of bed, landing on the floor! I heard the laughter of none other than Miranda.
"I warned you!" She laughed. "Well, ouch!" I said, really grumpy. "What? I told you to get up! Get dressed, sleepyhead. We're gonna go downtown." She said.
"Okay. Well, get outta my room then." I laughed. "Okay." She said, grabbing her guitar and amp before walking out.
I laughed as I walked over to the closet in my room. She had lent me some more comfortable clothes than I had come with; many of my clothes I had owned were hand me downs and too large for me.
I opened the saloon-looking doors. Looking around, I spotted jeans and a Miranda Lambert t-shirt. It was black and had Miranda with neon red lips and looking really badass.
I slipped it on and put on my jeans. By the time I was ready, it was around 10:00. I crept downstairs and into the kitchen.
"Oh! You're finally down here." Miranda poked at me. "Gee thanks." I said. She smiled at me before looking at my shirt. "Nice." She laughed, grabbing her keys off the counter. I followed her outside to her big truck and jumped shotgun. She grinned at me and opened the garage door before starting the car.
I watched the scenery flying by as we headed toward town. We finally parallel parked down one street from "Broadway". Miranda got out, slipping on a hat and some glasses.
"Really? A hat?" I laughed. She playfully elbowed me in the ribs, "very funny." We walked down the street, passing random stores. "Wanna eat somewhere?" She asked me.
"Sure! What's good around here?" I asked, scanning up and down the street. "There's Pancake Pantry.." She named off a few others that I didn't recognize.
"Whatever's good with me!" I declared. We walked down the street for a few blocks. "Are we there yet?" I complained playfully.
"Yes, that's why we're still walking." Miranda snapped back. I smirked at her as we finally spotted Pancake Pantry in the distance.
"Wanna race?" I asked. She laughed and shook her head. "I'd win. You know you're just jealous!" I snapped at her. She took one look at me over her sunglasses and sprinted forward.
It took me a few seconds to catch on. "Hey! Wait!" I called, running after her. I dodged several people on the sidewalk that looked at me like I was crazy. Yes...because chasing a huge star like Miranda Lambert to get breakfast wasn't crazy...
I finally caught up to her at the door! "What was that about winning and being jealous?" She asked me innocently. "Oh ha ha. Let's eat before my blood sugar goes out of wack and I get cranky. You wouldn't like that." I snapped back.
"Oh please, you're just embarrassed that I won!" She laughed. We walked inside. "Table for two?" The hostess asked us. Miranda nodded at her as the woman grabbed the menus.
We sat down and looked at the menu. Miranda sighed and took off her glasses. "Well, I'm about to release Platinum." She said nonchalantly. "Platinum?" I asked, dropping my menu.
She smiled at me, "that's the name of my new album." She said, folding her menu. "Oh, that's great!" I responded. "Yeah, it should be. I hope that everyone will like it." She said, not meeting my eyes.
"Really? You don't think people would like it? You're awesome, mom." I said with a smile. There was a long silence. I looked around, confused at what was going on. I finally looked at Miranda after a while, she was grinning like an idiot.
"What?" I asked, completely confused. One minute she's afraid of people not liking her album and the next she's really happy...? "Was it something I said?" I asked, nervous and a bit confused.
"Yes, it was. What did you call me?" She asked. I was about to respond when the waitress brought our drinks. We both ordered orange juice. I sipped mine gently, trying to think what I could've called her.
"You called me mom." She smiled at me. I dropped my orange juice.
