Lacey POV
I looked at the woman, and almost face palmed. "What's your name?" I asked her. She smiled at me, "I'm Miranda." I gasped with a smile. "Oh my gosh!!" She laughed at my reaction. "Yep." She said, glancing around. "Tell ya what, how would you like to play one of my guitars?"
I froze, surely she was kidding!? "What? Seriously!?" I asked, shocked. "Yes, I'm serious." She laughed at me. She ran off and came back holding her trademark pink guitar. I smiled as she slipped it into my hands, we sat on a bench and I played a few songs. She taught me the intro to Kerosene! It was the only part of the song I couldn't quite get!
I smiled as I learned both the Dsus2 and Dsus4 chords! "Mrs. Lambert, your tour is about up." I heard someone announce over the loud speaker. I handed the guitar back to her and she put it in the case. "So, how did a pretty thing like you end up on the streets? And oh my gosh! Is your face okay?" She asked, alarmed. I guess the makeup had come off from the previous days.
"I ran away from my orphanage. They smashed my guitar and slapped me. Their clients were trying to adopt me so they could parade me like some barbie doll. I had had enough and told them off! He was the head of a record company." I said sadly. Miranda nodded at me.
Her face turned bright red and her eyebrows furrowed, she looked angry. "I can't believe they'd do that to such a sweet girl!" She ranted. I just shrugged, "I wasn't good enough for them, I guess." "Don't ever say that. You're a beautiful person." She said, seriously. She glanced down at her, of course pink, watch and smiled. "Well, I got about an hour and a half before I meet the fans, how about we get you some breakfast?" She asked me.
"No, it's fine. I don't want to take anything from you. I don't want to bother you any more." "Bother me? I don't think you could bother me if you tried!" She laughed. I gave up, "Okay. Fine. I need to grab my suitcase." Miranda smiled at me, "Okay. We can hop in my truck, if you want." I was going to ride around with THE Miranda Lambert!?
We hopped into her silver truck and sped off. "Where ya wanna go?" She asked me, glancing from the road to me. I shrugged, I had only been in the orphanage. "I don't know much about this town."
She smiled, "Pancake Pantry then." I just shrugged, she laughed at my reaction. "I had just come from an orphanage in Knoxville so I don't know much about Nashville."
There were a few minutes of silence as Miranda turned. "Okay. How old are you?" I paused, it was the big question that turned everyone away. "15." I answered quietly.
"That's a good age to be." Miranda said, surprising me. "Really?" "Yeah! Heck, I'm in my 30's so I guess anything younger is funner." She laughed. I smiled, glad we shared the same sense of humor.
"That's why I was sent to the newer orphanage, I was older." I said with a shrug. "Hey, well, I'm glad you were sent there." There were a few beats of stunned silence.
"What!?" "Or I would've never gotten to hang out with you." My smile started to form, tiny at first and bigger when the realization hit.
"Alright. Let's go get some breakfast!" She said, pulling into a parking spot. She put on sunglasses and we walked inside. Surprisingly there weren't any problems getting in!
We sat down and I looked at the menu. It looked amazing! I ordered some chocolate chip pancakes, Miranda ordered the same thing.
We talked and ate before it was time for Miranda to head back to the Hall Of Fame.
