Lacey POV
I started reading the letter. It smelled like the scent of the ocean, the cologne was the last thing his dad had given him before he passed away.

I kept reading; the letter said that he was living on a farm on the outskirts of town. He was actually close to Miranda's.

"Can I visit you? Or can we meet? Have you been adopted by them yet?" I smiled at the letter. The last thing made my heart leap. "I know we haven't know each other for long, but I love you, Little Fox." And the letter ended.

I smiled at it, happy that things seemed to be falling into place. I picked up the mail and walked in the house. Miranda was sitting at the bar, smirking at me.

"He replied didn't he?" She said, still smirking. "No..." I blushed. "Oh, come on! I saw you smell the letter. You wouldn't be doing that to one of our bills would you?" I blushed scarlet.

"No..m'am." I said. She look at me weirdly for a minute. Then she busted out laughing. "I was just kidding. Sorry, I completely forgot." She smiled at me.

"Now, what did he say?" She asked me with a smile. I blushed again. "Well...he wants to meet up with me." I smiled. She smiled at me, but I could see a worried crease in her forehead.

"What? What's wrong?" I asked. "Nothin. Just a bit of nerves, that's all. Don't worry about me! He can visit! How about on Saturday? It's Thursday, if we drop it off now, it'll get there just in time. We can cook him a meal, if that's okay with you." She smiled.

"That's perfect! Thank you so much, mom." I froze, that one word had just come out of my mouth! I didn't say anything for a while. Miranda eyed me the whole time, like a bear watching a stream for fish.

"I mean..I..." I ran out of the kitchen and out to the yard. I heard pounding footsteps after me. "Lacey! Wait!" She called. I kept running. I had messed up. She wasn't going to adopt me! What was I thinking!?

I kept running until I couldn't anymore. I doubled over and looked around with a gulp. I didn't know where I was!

I leaned against a tree with a sigh. I can't ever do anything right. And on top of that, I had ruined Miranda and Blake's day.

"I'm such an awful person." I mumbled. I began to feel sleepy and fell asleep.

"Lacey. Lacey! Wake up." I heard someone say. I jolted up and looked around. I was in Miranda's living room! I glanced around and heard a laugh.

"I forgot you were such a heavy sleeper." I froze. That voice!?!?
