Lacey POV
"As soon as he opens that door, knock him out!" Miranda whispered to me. She had taken her pistol out of her boot.
I was now holding it by the end, ready to hit Mr. Matthews or his friend with the gun butt.
The door opened and I swung, almost missing his head. He stumbled back, but it wasn't enough to knock him out!
I ran back as he drew a glock, aiming it at me. He pulled the trigger and I closed my eyes. I heard the deafening sound of a gunshot and Kimberly gasp.
I'm not dead....? I opened my eyes to see Miranda on the floor, holding her shoulder! Mr. Matthew's friend was aiming at Kimberly now! I picked up Miranda's pistol and aimed at him, the gun clumsy in my hand.
"We told you this was going to happen, you nasty brat. Put that down! Or I'll shoot you!" The man said. I recognized him, it had been a while, but I remembered him.
"Eric?" I asked, confused. He had often helped at the orphanage and was always really quiet. He nodded slightly. "Why?" I asked. He didn't say anything and looked guilty.
"Look, you can turn this whole thing around, you seem nice enough!" Kimberly said, sweetly. He looked at her and I inched closer. She kept talking until I was finally close enough.
I swung and he went down, holding his head. I grabbed his gun and found it was empty, except for one bullet!
I quickly scrambled over to Miranda. She was trying to sit up, holding her left shoulder. I walked over to Eric and took off his shirt, before going back to Miranda, setting both guns on the ground.
"This is going to hurt, okay?" Kimberly asked. Miranda nodded. Kimberly wrapped it around her shoulder and pulled tight, Miranda grunted but didn't say anything.
"Can you get up?" I asked, Miranda nodded. I helped her up as Kimberly limped along, a wound from the bullet earlier. Kimberly grabbed the glock and handed me Miranda's pistol.
We went as fast as we could down the hallway, I realized we were in an abandoned shack. It looked like a giant storage shed with hallways.
We kept walking straight, hoping it would lead us out. We ran out and I spotted two cars. One was a van with a flat tire and the other was a Mercedes.
"Go!" I yelled. It was unlocked! I heard a car coming closer and dove into the driver's seat. Miranda next to me. I searched the car and found a key! "Go go go!" Miranda yelled.
"Wait, do you even know how to drive?" Kimberly asked from the back seat. "I can show her. Just go!" Miranda yelled. I gunned the engine and sped off. The radio was blaring and I almost laughed when I heard "Fastest Girl In Town" on the radio.
I took off toward the back roads and weaved in and out of the forest, trying to follow a dirt path. I saw lights off to the left and panicked, speeding up.
I tore toward the highway and got on. I saw a red Jeep further back be overtaken by a black SUV. "Right right right!!" Miranda yelled. I dodged the car and Miranda had me exit on the first exit we could find.
I sped in and out of streets, the black SUV chasing us, they started shooting a while back and broke the back windshield!
"Everyone hang on. Miranda, raise your pistol and shoot out their tires when I tell you when. Hang on!" We were flying down a street, the SUV chasing us, shooting all the while.
I slowed to about 20 and spun, hitting the emergency brake, before stopping sideways. I revved the engine, taunting him, as soon as he was close enough, I sped off in the opposite direction.
"Now!" I yelled. Miranda shot at the tires and I cheered as there was a hiss, she had clearly hit one of the tires.
"Thank god. But you are NOT driving for a long time!" Miranda yelled at me. "Where the hell did you learn that?" Miranda scolded me. "A Tom Cruise movie...." Miranda shook her head. The red Jeep stopped and Miranda got out, facing them. Out climbed Reid and Neil, along with Kyle!
"We need to get them to the hospital." I said, getting ready to dive into the front seat. "Not again!" Kimberly scolded, surprising me.
"I'll drive." Reid said, throwing Neil his keys. "Little Fox, are you okay?" Kyle asked me, rushing to me. He kissed me on my forehead, making me grin.
"I'm fine now. Thank you." I laughed. We piled into the Mercedes and Reid took off, Kyle watched us as we left.
"I'm so glad that you're okay." Reid said to all of us. "Thanks." Kimberly and I responded, Miranda didn't respond.
"Reid, hurry!" I yelled, Miranda was looking dazed. Reid stepped on it and we were at the hospital in 10 minutes flat.
I rushed into the hospital and yelled what happened, two men with a stretcher ran outside and laid her on it. She smiled at me and I squeezed her hand.
They took her back, and helped Kimberly inside. Reid and I sat in the hospital chairs until they called me back.
They checked me out and I only had a few cuts and bruises. One bullet scrape had to be stitched up on my cheek. I was so focused on getting everyone else to safety, I hadn't noticed.
After my stitches were done, I got herded back into the waiting room. It didn't take that long because I only needed three stitches.
I saw Blake sitting in a chair, talking to Reid. "How's mom?" I asked. Both of them glanced up in surprise, as did Kyle.
"She..she's..they're trying." Blake said. I walked up to the desk and asked the woman. "They're trying. She lost a lot of blood, but I think she'll make it. She's almost out of surgery." She told me with a weak smile.
"What's her room?" I asked. "413." I nodded. "Can I head there now?" "Are you related to her?" She asked me.
"She's a close friend. Like family." Reid piped up. "I'm not supposed to let you go, but go ahead. Say she's your aunt." I nodded before rushing to the elevators.
I pressed floor 4 and waited.
