Miranda POV
I finished getting changed into my pajamas and walked into the bedroom Blake and I shared.I had taken Lacey to the post office and cooked all of us dinner. I made sure that Lacey had gone to sleep before getting ready for bed.
Blake looked at me, sternly. "What were you thinking!?" He asked me, slightly yelling. "You'll wake her up!" I said back. "She's not just..just a dog! You can't just adopt her!" He said, lowering his voice slightly.
He was still pretty angry. "We don't even know where she came from! She could be lying to you for all we know! You should've asked me first! I can't believe you went behind my back!" He said.
I crossed my arms and stared him down. He was already under the covers, wearing nothing but boxers. "She came from the street! She was starving and homeless. She's not just some dog and I know she's a child!
I couldn't ask you first! She needed help and fast! I did not go behind your back! I tried to do what was right! What I felt was right! She's a good girl, Blake. She's very nice and very smart!" I argued, my voice getting louder and louder.
"I know you tried to do what was right but we don't know who she is! She could be a murderer for all we know!" Blake fired back. "Really? A murderer? She's a harmless 15 year old!" I yelled.
We started to fire back in forth, my anger flaring up. "And to top it off, we don't know how to raise a child! What happens when we go on tour!? Then what will we do? She has to go to school!" He argued.
"I think I can manage fine! Thank you! We can homeschool her. And she can go on tour with us! We can make this work! Just like everything else!" I yelled back.
"If you think you can manage so damn well then maybe I should leave!" He yelled. That hit home. I started to cry, I ran into the bathroom so he wouldn't see my tears.
I can't believe that he would just say that to me. I sat on the floor and started to cry. I was only trying to do the right thing!
"I'll leave. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause any of this. Please tell your wife thank you so much and that she was wonderful to me. I didn't mean to start a fight between you two. It's not her fault. Goodbye." I heard Lacey say.
"No, wait. I'm sorry. You shouldn't've heard all that. This ain't your fault. C'mere." There was silence. "You can stay here. It just caught me off guard, that's all. There ain't nothin against you or Ran. I'm just tired, that's all. But that ain't an excuse. I'm really sorry." I heard Blake's voice break.
"Miranda was right. You are a great kid." I smiled at Blake's comment. "In that case....nice boxers." I heard Lacey say. There was silence and I heard Blake laugh really loudly. "Wow...didn't expect that to come outta your mouth!"
I heard the door open and saw my husband stroll through. He was blushing, slightly. "Ran." He said quietly.
I looked up at him. He picked me up, bridal style. "Put me down!" I said jokingly. He put me on the bed. "Uhh..should I leave?" Lacey joked.
I looked at Blake and we both burst out laughing. "Wow. That kid's got your sense of humor!" Blake said to me. I smiled.
"Miranda, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't've said any of that. I should've known you had all of this figured out." Blake said sheepishly.
"It's okay." I said, hugging him. Lacey started yelling "PDA PDA!" We started laughing. "Wow. You're not as quiet as I first thought!" I laughed. Lacey blushed at me.
We all sat on the bed and talked for a little while.
"Alright Lacey Loo, time for bed." I said, yawning. She smiled at me and we walked to her room. I tucked her into bed and walked back to my room.
I curled up next to Blake and fell asleep.
