I looked on the couch next to me and smiled wide. "Hello, little Fox!" He smiled at me, his lips forming a perfect smile.

I tackled him in a hug. He laughed and hugged me back. "I see someone missed me?" His deep voice asked; I smirked as I sat back on the couch.

I heard a laugh and turned. Miranda tried to duck into the next room. "C'mon, Miranda." I laughed.

She blushed and walked forward, her boots hitting the hardwood. "Kyle, this is Miranda. Miranda, this is Kyle." I smiled. Kyle stood up and shook her hand.

"So you're her adopted parent, then?" He asked. I gulped....uh oh. There was a bit of silence. "I'm just staying with them for right now. I don't now what I'm going to do." I said with a shrug.

He gave me a questioning look. "They destroyed my guitar after you left. I ran away." I explained guiltily. "Oh, I'm so sorry. Those jerks." He growled, his fist tightening.

He froze. "Wait. You said your name is Miranda?" He asked, turning toward Miranda, who was leaning on the door frame.

"Yeah?" She asked, curiously. "What's your last name...? You look familiar. I can't place it." She smiled. "I'm waitin on the sun to set, cause yesterday ain't over yet..." Miranda trailed off.

He snapped his fingers. "Ah! That was the song you played me in the orphanage, right, Little Fox?" I blushed. I had forgotten about that!

"You're Miranda Lambert!" He smiled. She nodded and blushed slightly. "That's so awesome!" He smiled wider. "Thanks." She said with a shrug.

He moved closer to me with a blushing smile; taking my hand, he kissed it. I heard Miranda clear her throat and Kyle jumped back like he had been shot.

"Be careful with her. You know what my reputation is. If you don't, you'll find out." I heard her say, she sounded nice but we both could tell there was a steelness about her.

"Yes, m'am." Kyle promised. He gave me a wide eyed look and I laughed. "Lacey, if you need me I'm going on the porch." She said firmly. "And nice to meet you, Kyle!" She smiled.

Kyle looked as if he had just been hit by a train, he snapped out of it and smiled at me. He took my hand and kissed it, making me smile wider than the Cheshire Cat. We talked for a while, catching each other up on what we had missed.

"Yeah, there's a farmer next door. I met his daughter and she's pretty nice." He shrugged. I froze. What!? "I...oh...that's...nice." I struggled to get out. "I think you'd like her." He said with a shrug. I didn't say anything back.

We were quiet for a long while. I heard the back door open and Miranda peeked her head in. She looked at me and glared at Kyle. "It's pretty quiet in here. Everything okay?" She asked. "I wasn't trying to replace you. She's a friend, I'm saying that we could all be friends." He shrugged, looking at both of us, finally realizing what had happened.

I sighed, "Oh, sorry. Well, in that case, I'd love to meet her." I smiled. Kyle smiled at me and I heard Miranda chuckle and go outside.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset." He said, with a nervous laugh. "It's okay. I'm a girl, I'm supposed to get jealous." I smirked, playfully hitting him on the chest.

"Like what you feel?" He smirked, before laughing. "Yes, you mean because it's a flabby?" I fired back. "Uh huh, sure. You know you're jealous." He snapped back.

We talked for a good while until he looked at me, sadness in his eyes. "Well, it's time for me to leave, I promised I'd be home by din.." He was cut off as the door opened.

"Hey, Kyle! Want to stay for dinner?" Miranda asked. "No, m'am. Maybe another night, I need to be getting back. Thank you so much." He smiled, giving Miranda a hug.

"Anytime." She said, hugging him back. "Oh! Lacey, do you want to trade numbers?" She prompted me. "Sure!" I ran into the kitchen and grabbed a scrap of paper.

"What's the number?" I asked with a laugh. "125-555-387" Miranda told me. I wrote it down and signed my name. I handed it to him and he hugged me before kissing my forehead.

I smiled and showed him to the door. He snuck a kiss on my cheek and left. I heard a truck fire up as he disappeared.
