Lacey POV
After everyone left, it was just me, Miranda, and Carrie. We all sat on the couch side by side, not saying anything.
"Well....that was fun." Miranda smiled, not saying anything else. "Glad you enjoyed it!" I laughed. "Lacey, never lie to me again. Do you understand?" Miranda said, her tone serious. "Yes mom. I'm sorry." I said. "It's okay. I know you were just trying not to worry me." She said, squeezing my hand.
"So. What're we gonna do now?" Carrie asked quietly.
Miranda's eyes had a gleam that I had never seen before, the old Miranda. The burn-your-house-down-while-I-laugh Miranda. I knew not to get in her way!
I leaned into the couch, wondering what in the world Miranda had planned. She didn't say anything as she got off of the couch.
I heard her boots hitting the floor as she walked inside. I exchanged glances with Carrie. Carrie gave me a tiny grin but shook her head. I shrugged.
"So, got any news lately?" She asked me slowly. I just shrugged, "not really. Nothing too exciting going on." I said quietly. Almost laughing at the irony.
I heard something hit the floor in the kitchen and glanced worriedly at Carrie. "Oh crap." She muttered, springing off the couch. I followed her into the kitchen to see Miranda holding a bottle of vodka. A plastic cup was on the ground.
"Miranda. Don't." Carrie said, inching toward Miranda. Miranda looked at Carrie with a smile that will be burned into my brain for a while. Miranda took one look at us, laughed, and walked toward the back patio. She quickly threw open the door, I heard it hit the side of the house
Carrie grabbed me and pulled me back from the door. Through the doorway, I saw Miranda pitch the vodka bottle onto the wooden porch and flinched as it shattered.
Miranda calmly turned back around and walked inside like nothing happened. Carrie and I exchanged looks and followed her into the kitchen.
She walked into her bedroom and began picking up random nicknacks and threw them into the doorway. I realized that they must've been Blake's!
She said nothing as she opened a dresser drawer and began to take out clothes. She picked up a black and red flannel shirt, ripping it nearly in half. "M..mom?" I said. She turned to me, tears in her eyes.
"I...I'm sorry." Was all she said, turning back to the mess she had made. "It's okay. It's not your fault." I said uselessly. She just looked at me blankly.
"How about we go to bed? I'll stay over if you don't mind." Carrie said. "Why? So I don't hurt myself?" Miranda snapped back.
"Well....you did just throw an entire bottle of vodka onto our porch..." I laughed. She looked at me and smiled weakly. "Sorry you had to see that." She said quietly.
"It's okay. As long as you weren't drinking it or throwing it at my head, then it's all good!" I grinned. I walked upstairs and got ready for bed. I was about to slip into my bed when I had a thought. Miranda probably wouldn't want to be alone right now....
I slid downstairs and into Miranda's room. "Hey, mom." I said quietly. She still had her bedside light on and seemed to be reading.
"Yeah, Lace?" She asked. Her voice sounded tired. "Could I maybe sleep with you in your bed tonight? We could have like a sleepover." I grinned. She lowered her knees and put down her phone.
"I would love that. Thanks, Lace." She grinned at me. I slid into bed beside her and she turned off the light.

I awoke to frustrated screaming. I jumped in the bed and looked over, Miranda was gone! Uh oh....
