Lacey POV
The ride back was silent, mostly because I was really nervous on what was going to happen next.
"Why ya so quiet?" Miranda asked, gently. I jumped, "Just thinking about today..." Miranda stopped at a light and turned to me: "What's bothering you?"
I sighed, I guess I couldn't escape it now. "I'm just wondering where I'm going to have to hide now, since next to the Ryman is out...." I trailed off. I could see Miranda was thinking.
"Well....Blake is off filming the Voice...and I have the Nashville house to myself..." The light changed and she drove.
"What!? I couldn't ask you to do that!" I said, panicked. "We can for a while..." She trailed off, thinking. She parked her truck and we snuck in the back.
"I'm gonna get changed real quick, but do not leave." She said, her voice still soft, but it had an edge. "Okay." I said, holding up my hands jokingly.
"I know how you work. Fight or flight. Believe me, I've seen it in you, you're sometimes jumpy." With that, she disappeared. I walked forward and sat on the couch.
I just laid there, it wasn't like I could go anywhere anyway without my things, it's almost as if she planned it. A while later, Miranda returned. She was wearing a cute fringe jacket with a black top underneath, and full makeup.
Now she looked more like the stage Miranda Lambert! She sat next to me. "Okay, I'm going to go out and meet the fans, give em a tour, oh, wait! Here!" She ran off and came back carrying another outfit.
"No, I'm fine." I said. "I insist. I bet you're tired of wearing that!" I sighed and she lead me to a bathroom. I put on the shirt, it said "Tacos, Beers, and Chandeliers" with Junk Gypsy scrawled on it.
I also wore my boots I had gotten at the orphanage with jeans she gave me. When I was done, I walked out and jokingly spun around. "Lookin good, Tex!" She joked.
I smiled at her. "Okay, you can come with me." I nodded, but stopped. "Wouldn't that confuse everyone?" I asked. She shrugged, "I'll introduce you as my helper."
I nodded and we walked out through the back hallways. We finally reached a door and she put her finger to her lips. She opened the door and I saw a glimpse of stage Miranda Lambert.
"Hey, y'all! What's up!?" She asked. There was a mic with a podium. She climbed up to it, practically dragging me with her!
"So! As you know, I have a new exhibit! Y'all get to see it first!" She smiled. There were a lot of cheers. There were about 200 people in the crowd.
"This is my lovely assistant, Lacey! She'll be on the tour with us!" Miranda smiled. People said hello to me from the crowd!
I smiled and waved. "Let's go!" Miranda said with a smile. She lead the crowd, and it surprised me, no one tried to rush or jump the line. She explained everything like she did to me earlier, but a lot louder.
After the tour, she had meet and greet for two hours! I shot some pictures for people of them and Miranda. After that was over, Miranda and I went back through the "backstage door."
Miranda got changed back into her previous clothes and we walked out the back toward her truck. "How would you like to go back to my house in Nashville?"
I nodded with a smile, "Sure! If you don't mind." She glanced at me, shook her head and laughed.
We pulled up to a huge farm house! It was so pretty! It was the house I had always dreamed of. It had a white Pickett fence and white columns.
She parked and I got out. She handed me my suitcase and lead me inside. The house was decorated with a country woman's touch.
"I love your house!" I said with a smile. Miranda blushed at me, "thanks!" She lead me down the hallway and into one of the rooms on the right.
"Here's the guest room." I nodded, setting my suitcase down. I couldn't help think that's all I was, a guest. I wondered what would happen after she got tired of me?
"I'm just gonna wash your clothes." She said. "I can wash them if you like." Miranda shook her head quickly. "Nah, I'll do it." She was about to walk out when I realized something, Kyle's address!!
"Miranda! Wait!" I called. I grabbed the jeans from her grasp. "I'm gonna wash them! Sheesh!" I dug through the pockets and turned up empty. I almost broke into tears.
"What's wrong? Oh! I found a piece of paper earlier..." She trailed off. "That's it! That's what I'm looking for!" I said in relief. She smiled at me, but looked confused.
"I'm glad I checked your pockets then!" She laughed. "So what's with all these dramatics?" She laughed. I blushed. "A friend that was adopted at the orphanage gave me their address."
She laughed, "It has to be a boy!" I blushed. "No..." "Oh, please. I was your age once! That's all I could think about!" She laughed at me.
"What're ya waiting for!? Go write him!"
