Miranda POV
"Do you have a guitar?" Kimberly asked Lacey. Lacey was going to say something but she burst into tears! Before we could catch her or say anything, she ran into the house! Kimberly looked at me, a look of grief on her face. "She..she's had a hard life. I found her at the Hall Of Fame.
Someone had smashed her guitar. She ran away from an orphanage." I finally rambled out. Neil let out a low whistle. "Here. Let me fix this." Kimberly said, handing me her guitar and running inside. I just sat there feeling extremely worried for Lacey.
*Kimberly POV*
I walked inside, looking for Lacey. I didn't mean to make her upset! I had no idea!I looked around the house before I heard a noise. I stopped in the kitchen. It sounded like crying! I retraced my steps to the bathroom across from the kitchen.
I knocked on the door and waited. "Sorry." Was all I heard her say. She was still crying and it broke my heart. "Please open the door, BabyGirl." I begged.
Finally, after a long pause, she opened the door. "That's better." I said with a smile. I attacked her in a hug. She froze for a while before returning it.
"I'm sorry. I had no idea." I said to her. "Thanks. It's okay. I shouldn't've responded how I did." She said sheepishly. "Hey, it's okay. I would respond the same exact way." I told her. It was true! And I did when I was a teenager. I had broken my favorite guitar.
"It's a hard knock life eh?" She laughed. I smiled at her joke, "I would say so!" We walked back onto the porch and Miranda looked really relieved. I could tell that she really cared about Lacey, in a friend and motherly way.
"Here. you can play mine." I said, handing Lacey my guitar. She smiled and started to strum, random chords with an upbeat tempo. "Look at her go!" Neil laughed. I smiled, she was pretty good! I was pretty surprised. "I'm sorry." She apologized. I looked at her, tilting my head.
"I played too long." She said, handing it to me. "What do you mean?" I asked, handing it back to her. "If I played to long in the orphanage, they'd get a bit upset." She explained. "We're all friends here. Play your heart out!" I smiled at her.
In the end, we had written part of a song! "Where is Blake?" Reid asked, I had forgotten about him...and the doughnuts! "He'll be back. He texted me and said there was a line so he was gonna run some errands." She said, shooting a wink at me. No one else seemed to catch it, which confused me.
I shot her a confused look but she shook her head, looking at Lacey. Lacey focused on a bar chord that Neil was showing her and Miranda mouthed "Guitar" to me. I smiled and nodded happily.
We finished up the song by the time Blake arrived with breakfast. We sat and ate.
